Limewire itself won't do any harm, but ALWAYS (as with ANY software), be sure to download from the official site to avoid a contaminated version.

If you use with common sense (for starters, let the file size be a guide) you should have no problems what so ever. Most of those who criticise Limewire have simply been stung by their own stupidity - no program will protect a user from that!

As far as I know, Limewire itself will not and cannot do any damage to your computer. Of course, Limewire is a tool for downloading files, and whenever you download files from untrusted sources, there is some risk that the files could contain malicious code. But that's true whether you use Limewire or some other method -- Limewire presents no special risk.

By the way, it's not necessary or correct to put quotation marks around the names of programs.

The songs that you download often carry viruses. Also, when I downloaded Limewire, I instantly got over 50 Spyware and Adware. Although the songs may be free, it is not worth it. My computer now runs slowly from the damage the viruses, adware, and spyware i got. Ye, I did delete them, and all my Limewire stuff, but the damage is still there.

Limewire will do no damage at all. It's the viruses masked as music files that will do the damage. And there seems to be a group out there that does nothing but make these viruses.

Some versions of limewire come bundled with spyware, I believe the most current version is spyware-free, but bittorrent would be a better option. Even then, you will want to make sure you have a good anti-virus, and good anti-spyware applications to protect you. File-sharing can be dangerous.

Some protection applications:

If you use Limewire alot without knowing how to select "proper" files to download, you run the risk in getting virus into your systems. some files your download can appear legitimate and "safe" but no doubt, virus-es can be embedded it them..

Also, if you use it extensively, you'll run into problems with copyrights...... especially for music and movies download.

Take care,gd luck!

cheers!

if you dont know what ur doing and how to "feel" out a file to see if it loks right you will wind up with a virus in short order ... get into bittorrent its much safer ... albeit alittle more complicated to settup ..
