The possibilities are like this:
1. he realize that his girlfriend might not be the sexiest girl in earth. in other words, his girlfriend might not be as sexy as angline jolie or kylie minogue or whoever guys considered sexy (as in well-built).
2. he also realized the his girlfriend might not be as pretty as other girls. maybe not as pretty as kate hudson or nicole kidman or whoever guy thinks beautiful.
3. but despite all of that, he thinks of her as beautiful and nicely built, in a way that not everyone might be able to see it in a way, but he can. he thinks of her nice-built maybe as she didn't has to do all the workout like 7 dyas a week to has her body like hers, or maybe she eats a lot but she didn't get huge. he sees her beautiful even when she's not wearing make-up, a way where most people perhaps can't understand how can someone-a girl- without make-up can look beautiful...
in conclusion,
he like his girlfriend the way she is, even without all the sexy body or the make-up.

He loves her for who she is, not just for what she looks like.
He doesn't sound shallow; he sounds like he has found someone he can really connect with on an emotional level. This is much better than all the guys who go around talking about women like they are a piece of meat, and bragging about their sexual exploits.

he was trying to describe his girlfriend. I believe he was being honest that he did not consider his girlfriend's physical appearance to be like a goddess., but a person may like another because of the whole package. meaning her attitude and so on.
