A free app called RegSeeker version 1.52 that has a tweak file that will get rid of your shortcut arrows. It is also a great registry cleaner and temp. internet files cleaner http://www.hoverdesk.net/freeware.htm

Why do you want to remove the arrow? It is there to remind us that it is a shortcut, as opposed to an icon representing the program or file. Delete a shortcut - no problem. Delete a program or file -- could be an aggravation unless you thought it out.

get a free app called tweakui .. install it then go to explorer/shortcut and tick off the arrow on the icons in the shortcut overlay radio button choices.
