There are a bunch of surgical procedures that can be used to 'cover up' a personal and private reconstruction or scar removal.
Here are a few...

"I have a suspicious skin growth, I need it biopsied" and if you have to stay a day or so "I had a hard time with anesthesia."

"I need to have a spinal tap, I'll be under anesthesia and have to stay a day or more to recover. It's OK, they are just checking ...I've been having weird headaches...."

"I have a small hernia in my belly (that's where a muscle tears and lets a loop of your guts poke through) and they need to close it up. "

Another thing, is you may choose to tell that you are having scars removed...but say they are from a different surgery years ago and they hurt you- like an appendix scar, a biopsy scar, gall bladder surgery scar and so on. If rude and invasive people have not seen your body, they don't know, and unless they are familiar with medicine and your personal medical history, they won't think about you 'modifying the truth'.

Do what you need to do for your own comfort and safety.

women who have been assaulted, raped, hurt or harmed in private areas do get reconstruction, and it's also appropriate to ask for someone to talk to about the shame and judgement you are recieving. You don't deserve that. Sounds like you've dealt with enough.

I'm not sure what will be acceptable, but some things that wouldn't take too long include removal of a suspicious mole (you could tell them a week later that everything was fine), removal of the gallbladder (cholecystectomy- generally a short stay at the hospital), maybe you could tell them that you have an ovarian cyst and need to have CT scans to have it further evaluated (that could take up a few hours of the day), having your tubes tied or a tubal ligation or if you don't want to go quite that far you could say you are having an IUD placed. There are quite a few things you could say, just not sure how long you need this "procedure" to last and also you don't want to make it too bad or else you will have in-laws looking to come visit you at the hospital or something.

I'm not real clear on what your asking. Are you saying you ARE having a surgical procedure to remove scars, but you want to tell you're mother-in-law you're having something else done? Maybe you could tell her you're having moles removed. Is this what you mean?

Tell your husband to tell his mother that you are having some warts removed. Or that you are having some skin cancer removed. Or that you are having a tatoo removed. Or that you had an infected hair gland fixed. Just a few ideas. Don't know if I gave you any ideas or not. Good Luck.

Have a great day!

Why do they need to know he is taking the day off in the first place? If they already know, just tell him to lie and say he isn't taking the day off at all. Or you could just say your just taking a "special" day together.
You could also say your having a scope done to check for endometriosis, and then when all is said and done, say you ended up not having endometriosis so all is good!

It would help if you could be a little more specific as to where, etc. If your mother-in-law will see your scars, they must be in a "public place". Can you get a tattoo over the scars or something? Is that reasonable? Need a little more information.
