Traditionally, at least in some European countries, the wedding ring is the same as the engagement ring and changes its status through engraving and the change of the hand on which to wear it. If the wedding ring is different from the engagement ring, the question whether or not the engagement ring should be worn during the ceremony leaves a few options. The bride may wear it on her left ring finger and have the groom put the wedding band over it. She may also wear it on her right ring finger, although that may surprise the groom. The bride may also continue wearing the rings on different hands after the wedding – this may prevent the engagement ring from scratching and scuffing. Another option is to have the main bridesmaid keep the ring during the ceremony – there are a variety ways to keep it: in a pouch, on a plate, etc. After the ceremony, the ring can be placed back on either the left or the right hand.

The wedding ring is first, then the engagement ring. During the wedding the engagement ring is normally worn on the right hand so the ring finger is empty until the wedding ring is placed.. after the ceremony you move the engagement ring to the left hand and it sits after the wedding ring.

Ok, I'm sure anyone can tell you which ring to put on first, your wedding ring. But here's the reason why. They say that the ring finger is the closest to the heart. So the wedding ring going on first is closest to the heart, and the engagement ring is closets to the wallet because it's the expensive one (usually).

Usually the wedding ring, held in place by the engagement ring. So if you're going to follow the superstition of not ever removing your wedding ring, make sure you remove your engagement ring before your wedding ceremony so when he slips the wedding ring on your finger, it's for good!

Most everyone is saying wedding ring first because it should be worn closest to you heart. Well you have to like a person before you love them so it only makes since that you are engaged before you are married. Hence the engagement ring first.
Anyway, I'd think you'd want that rock closest to you heart and held there securely by the wedding ring. lol.
