Cats don't fall in love--they go into heat. If your cat is behaving that way toward you, if it's a tom, then you probably have the scent of a queen in estrus on you. If it's a queen, she's in estrus (heat) and there's really nothing you can do about it until she comes out of it--it took our cat about a week to ten days.
Having said that, cats -can- be affectionate toward humans, but that's more a kitten-to-mom sort of love.

Maybe not love, but a cat you have a good relatinship with seems to get something from being with you.
Our tough old female would sleep by the back door on FRiday nights when I was away on business because she "knew" I would be coming home Friday night. Saturday thrugh Thursday she would be in her usual place at night, but she seem to want to be sure I came home Friday.

Yes, I believe so. I have a cat that I rescued out from underneath my porch during a very cold winter night. He has become so attached to me that he basically ignores my husband and daughter and only comes near me. He follows me all over the house, sits by me in my chair, sleeps by me at night and at this very moment, he is sitting on the arm of my chair cat napping and watching me type on my computer. In his own cat way, he loves me.

When a cat purrs and rubs against you it is telling you that it is madly in love with you. That is their way of letting you know how much they care and you are #1 in their world.

i'm not sure if they "love" or not. they are not like dogs and just go to whoever and sniff their butts. cats make you earn their affection i guess you'd say. they make their decision on who they like the most. my sister's cat which she picked out as hers, seems to cling to me the most. i pet her more and she sleeps with me at night a lot of times. she made her decision on who she likes the most and picked me eventhough i had my own cat that i picked, which seemed to cling to my dad more than me when he was still alive...the cat that is he ran away a while back. so cats i guess you could say do "love" or cling to who they want.
