If you want a guaranteed good night out (whatever you are into) it has to be Newcastle. I am not from there so cant be accused of bias but have been out there loads. It has a really good feel about the place - the Geordie's are sound.
If you want a cheesy night you have to go to the Big Market, if you want a bit more upmarket it has to be the Quayside. There are also a good mix of clubs (house, cheese and Indy etc)

--According ot the surveys I keep hearing, it's Newcastle. But having never been there on the razz I've got to recommned Manchester, it's an absolutely amazing night out whatever sort of company or music you're into, and it can be dead cheap as long as you know where to go, i.e. not in the middle of the city centre lol

despite the bad rep, nottingham is pretty good coz its so compact. you can literally fall out of one bar and strait into another! no need to wander for miles to get to the next club.
i have lived and partied like a king here all my life (23 years) and never had trouble. its just like any city, just stay away from the allys and un-lit areas!
lace market = posh end, cocktail bars and restaurants
hockley = 'chain' up-market bars like brownes
market square = cheap bars and a few 'oldy worldy' tipe pubs
clubs all over, just ask!
hope this helps, happy drinkin'!

Wakefield. Westgate is a mile stretch of pubs. Just one after the other. Everytime a shop closes down in wakefield, it becomes a pub.
