if they would have just owned up to their own actions instead of everybody pointing fingers and just said, god, we were wrong and we're sorry, he probably would have gone a lot easier on them

God forgives all sins, but with every sin there are consequences. the consequense of this sin was to gain the knowledge of good and evil. For them to say "I'm sorry" is certainly forgiveable to God but they still had to live with the consequences of thier sin. If you murdered a man, God would forgive you of this sin but you would still have to go to prison. Although Adam and Eve ate of the forbidden fruit and brought sin into the world, Jesus came so that sins could be forgiven. When he returns again in the Judgement, he will cast sin and death into the lake of fire. The answer to this question is simple to me but I can not provide scriptures. I can only tell you what I believe is true. I believe Adam and Eve both said "I'm sorry" the very minute they ate the fruit because they then had the knowledge of what they did and that it was wrong. We have suffered the consequences of their sin for all men must die. Never has there been before or after a sin that so greatly affected mankind. From the seed of Adam came Noah, from the seed of Noah came Abraham, from Abraham came King David and from David's seed came Jesus. Although Christ was a miracle birth by Mary as a virgin, both Joseph and Mary were direct decendants of David, Abraham, Noah and Adam. Nothing God has ever done was done so without reason or purpose. We as humans may not always understand God but through faith we can believe in His Son and the reasons for His Son to die on the cross. The fact that you said forbidden fruit instead of apple tells me you have some Bible knowledge and with that I hope I have helped to answer your question.

God forgave them because they still lived but under a curse. Now durning that generation of Adam and Eve that entire generation was destroyed by a flood. A new beginning of Earth began again with Noah. I do not know what would have happened if they said "God I m Sorry" but if they had not eaten the forbidden fruit then we would all be living a beautiful life with no sickness or death to proclaim.

Things would have been very different today,if, they had listened to God, instead of Satan, they would still be alive today, there would be no sin , no death, no sickness, no pain , no sorrow or tears, people would be living in peace and harmony, there would be love amongst mankind promised to in Revelation21:4. This is what the true God wanted for mankind not the way things are today! Adam and Eve bamed each other and the serpent instead of owning upto things which shows that they were unreppentant they willfully rebelled against God for selfish reasons, namely because they didn't want to be answerable to God but wanted to decide for themselves what is good or what is bad though they were perfect, and informed of the consequences they willingly disobeyed and took whatt was not theirs to take, therefore, just saying sorry would not necessarily automatically absolve them from their sin because Adam was not deceived but he knowingly went against God's directions where he could have told his wife not to do that, that might have helped the situation but he did not! So I don't know if sorry would have cut it? That question would be better answered by God himself!

That is interesting. When confronted by God, Adam immediately blamed "the woman that God gave him". Eve when confronted blamed the serpent. Neither one took responsibility for the disobedience. Even so, out of great love, God did make a way for their sins to be forgiven through the shedding of blood (Old Testament - unblemished lamb - New Testament - Jesus Christ) Even though forgiven, man would pay the consequences of sin via the curse on the world - pain in childbirth, difficulty in raising crops, etc. Sin has consequences even when we say we are sorry. A murderer who may be sorry afterwards still has to go to prison or be put to death.

No, Satan was not challenging God. He was deceiving man. His only purpose on the earth is to try to pull man away from God. More so now, because his time is short. God was not overcome by Satan or by Adam's sin. He already had a plan in progress and knew what would happen because, Satan was sent to the earth before Adam. God knew Satan's nature when He placed Adam and Eve here with him. God placed Satan as ruler of the earth. Our restoration with God through Jesus death, is what restores God's plan for us to live in Paradise with Him.

Good question, however I do think that the consequences of sin came with the fall (the not obeying) and the curse started then, so them saying they were sorry would have been moot. Just like if I did not have Jesus, I could say I was sorry for every vile thing done in my life, but I would still have to pay the punishment (the second death) for my sin. Thank God for Jesus.

I've always wondered the same thing. Had they asked forgiveness would things have been different? And if Adam and Eve had lived in this perfect world of truth and love, how did they know what it was to be deceived? I would like to think it would have been different, after all he is the God of Love and forgiveness right? But who's to say they didn't ask?

The punisment may have been less severe if they had stood up as the adults that they were suposed to be and not hidden or made clothes for themselves. and asked God for forgiveness for listening to the Serpents advice.

They had no excuse. They didn't have a natural defect in them that caused them to disobey or make mistakes. They knew the punishment and yet ate the fruit anyway. God's justice is perfect which would demand that He uphold His own laws. I'm sure it pained Him , but at least He loved their offspring enough to give us a chance at redemption.

Wouldn't have mattered, because it wasn't literally a fruit they ate, they had sex and their eyes were then opened to the reality of humanity. They were no longer pure and had chosen free will over blind faith. So your question is somewhat impossible if your really stuck on that fruit metaphor. Our paths are predestined and that starts with the original members, your precious Adam and Eve.
