I know that it can normally last for a long time, but my roommate and i bought jelly opened it about 2 months ago and she seemed to get a little sick from eating toast the other day so my question should really be how long does jelly last after opening.

Actually every jelly or jam has an expiration date. They have a general standard (codexalimentarius.org) for each one. A good jelly or jam will be damaged by mould after 2 years (which it means "Good Manufacturing Procedures". A pretty bad jelly or jam will be damaged whithin 6 months or less.

Always buy good quality brands... for a couple of cents, it could save your life. (Talking about of microorganism)

I think everything has an expiration date
It might be tough to find though...
I think I watched Food Network once and it said it can last for up to 3 years in the powder form, but if its the real jelly, i think up to 1 1/2 years?

most do, and its generally 1 1/2 to 2yrs or so--i check all foods, for the expiration date, and will check several items on the shelf, to buy the item with the longest expiration date, if its not something i use regularly !!!...jams and jellies should be refrigerated after opening them...if not, they could spoil...that could be your friends problem ??!!

We usually go with when the mold starts to grow. However when the milk says it expires on the 10th and its the 10 it gets dumped..
