I had the experience of working with her, years ago....
WHOOOBOY, was that an interesting experience!
She had a few good points to make about church-state separation, but she really liked to push people's buttons (think she liked a verbal brawl, more than actually making a solid point). Interesting to talk with, but very, very opinionated---and didn't care too much about the feelings of people, regardless of their religious or spiritual background.
Probably could have made more progress if she hadn't been so irascible.

Dare I say what I think or will an Atheist join in with the Muslims in reporting answers they don't like?
All I know is it were fellow Atheists who killed her for money.
I apologize to the atheists, I didn't mean to be so insensitive to your feelings, don't report me. Please!!
Madalyn appeared to be an extremely hateful miserable person who wanted to bring as much hurt to others as she possibly could.
What is amazing is that even though she tried her best to make her son her clone, it turned him to God.

She was an extremist. Like all extremists, she had a 'one truth' point of view and would brook no argument. While none of the accusations against her were ever proven, there seems to be little doubt that she was an extremely disagreeable person.

Between the way she referred to her son after he converted and her blind intolerance of everyone except a certain kind of atheist, I don't think very highly of her.

I think she was a great person. It's a shame how she died. She started her career lobbying for union rights for miners in Pennsylvania. Then she later joined American Atheists and was a dramatic figure at a time when we needed one. She, more than anybody, turned back the tide of religious fantacism of the 50's and 60's. Unfortunately, we need another such person now with Bush's zealots taking over the government.

Atheists on here keep denying the things that she said/testified to in federal court...
She testified that the population of the U.S.A. were 70% atheists. She demonstrated this by proving that most of those who CLAIM to be Christian are not following scripture.

I didn't know her as a person. As a defender of the Constitutional separation of church and state, I think she was fabulous.

She was too much into self-promotion for my taste, but I am not a "political" atheist. Nativity scenes on the courthouse lawn don't bother me.

The only thing I applaud her for is getting prayer out of schools, otherwise she was a total nutter.
