Depends what you want to achieve. Exclusion diets are used medically to find out what foods you are allergic to. So how you go about the diet depends on whether you have any idea what you may be allergic to in the first place.

To do one from scratch is horrible. It's the lamb and pears diet. Lamb & pears are the two foods with the lowest chance of you being allergic to. So if your allergies are really bad your hospital dietician will start you off with a few days of eating only lamb and pears, after that they start introducing in other low allergen foods until they find something you react to.

It's not a nice experience and should only be done under professional guidance.

First step, don't call it a diet. Diets are temporary solutions and don't work. What you want is a lifestyle change. Make healthier choices. Pick whole grain foods and limit (not eliminate) added sugars. Face it, there will probably be a time when you want a chocolate bar. If you "can't" have it, then you're not going to feel that great about yourself or your food plan. Learn to incorporate the best food choices you can in a healthy and life long way.

Diet stands for: Dare I Eat This?

Good luck and congrats on making healthy choices...

I don't recommend those diets, they made me more prone to cheating. If you MUST then I would cut out flour products and sugar products. Natural sugar is ok so are artificial sweeteners. I've had success with that one. I lost 70 lbs in one year, and that was with major cheating on the weekends. I'm no longer on that diet and I do eat flour and sugar products, but no more than one serving a day. I have not gained any weight back and it's been 3 years. I excercise three times a week too.

Yes, exclude white sugar and white bread.

Now for inclusion:
Include:
water, and more water
non-fat milk
low fat meat
lots of vegetables and fruit and try lots of green cooked veggies
and once a week - have one one meal where you eat what you want, and go back to your new habits.

walk at least 5 minutes 3 x a day, inside (up & down stairs) or outside. When you park your car, pick a spot very far from where you enter a building....extra walking.

In no time, you'll lose 1 or 2 pounds per week, that will stay off.....losing weight fast also makes you flabby. This way you'll keep the weight off...and develop healthy choices.

It really depends what you are wanting to exclude! I've found it really useful in the past cutting out wheat, dairy and refined sugars, but you need to get yourself a good cookbook. I've found "cooking without" to be invaluable. You can't eat anything processed if you're excluding just about anything so make sure you have lots of fresh fruit and veg about your person when you're on the move and likely to get hungry! Don't think of it as a diet either, just a life change

Go and see a nutritionist - they'll tell you exactly how to go about it. And will test for intolerances if you're worried about that - but make sure it's a blood test, not one of those dodgy ones xxx
