I’m sorry to hear about your medical problems and sympathize with your problem finding health insurance. The best way to find out about local options is by talking with people in your situation and to local health insurance agents. Before you do that, however, you might look into group health insurance offered through a truck driving organization. It’s usually easier to be accepted for insurance through a group health plan than through an individual insurance policy. I’ve included a link to the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association health plan Web site. If you’re not interested in that (or you don’t own your own truck), I’ve included a link to state truck driving associations. The people there might be able to help you out or at least point you in the right direction to find group health insurance through a truck driving professional organization.

Another way you might qualify for group health coverage is through a state risk pool. I’ve included a link below to states that have risk pools. I’m not very familiar with these plans, but they are set up to help people who would otherwise be uninsurable due to their medical condition.

If those options don’t work out for you, check out MostChoice.com. It’s a Web site where you can view online health plan information and talk to locally licensed health insurance agents without any obligation.

Good luck!

Cases like yours are what would bankrupt a national health insurance plan.

Under such a plan you probably would not have gotten a hip replacement. They would have done all kinds of other things while you continue to agonize in pain.

You should consider public assistance, but if your spouse is working, you may not qualify for that.

Instead you should check to see if your state has a high risk pool of insurance of last resort for those denied coverage elsewhere.

It will be expensive, but it will cover you.

You probably would only get health insurance in the private market from insurers who would insist on excluding coverage from any of your current ailments.....but what good is that to you?

Your case is exactly why we need a national medical insurance plan. They look at your hip replacement and think about the expense of possibly having it revised in years to come. They look at high cholesterol and think of the cost of a cardiac intensive care unit. They want to take premiums from healthy folks, but they don't want to get anywhere near someone who could actually cause them to spend some of those premiums they collect.

My son-in-law is a self employed, licensed Commerical and Residential Electrician. My grandson has ADHD. He is on medication and does very well. Still, when they did finally find a plan that would cover them, it cost more than $1,000 a month and excluded all medications for my grandson, not just his ADHD drugs, but even antibiotics. No medication for him at all.

My daughter returned to work (she is a nurse), just so they could get reasonably priced insurance as members of a group.

Do you belong to any trucker's associations? There might be something available through an organization like that.

call an insurance broker and price out health insurance. No one can tell you what it costs it depends on a lot of factors, including your age, current health, prior illnesses or conditions, deductibles and co-insurance, if you smoke, etc...good luck.

Control high blood pressure, anxiety and cholesterol by using natural methods such as diet and meditation. Dr. McDougall believes that by changing to his diet you can reverse high blood pressure and cholesterol. Also, Dr. Esselstyn believes that you can reverse heart disease by using his diet. The physician's for responsible medicine (PCRM) believes that these can be prevented by diet.

You can call insurance companies, but because of your pre-existing conditions you have to wait at least one year before being treated for any of the above conditions. Also, if you are not getting it through the company the costs are extremely high and ridiculous such as $1,000 plus a month.

Hopefully you will change your diet and save money instead.
