It depends on the student, the teacher and the school. Some public schools are ill equipped but have great teachers and some private schools are well equipped but have **** teachers. So I think it take time to research the schools on the basics of what you want.

Private Schools are the BEST. But they can be very expensive. You get what you pay for. Your tax dollars cover public school but your income covers private school.

Private is better, here is why:

smaller class size
emphisis on core subjects (math, science, english etc)
higher paid teachers who value their jobs
better books and materials
up to date computers and other tech items
hands on work, less lecturing (kids tune it out)
everyone gets to know everyone (smaller environment)
better safety of you child
parents have more avenues to get involved
better at keeping parents informed
less burn out of teachers
and more.

If you can afford private school that is the best. But make sure you check it out very well as there are BAD private schools too. Talk to others parents and ask for references. Check them out.
Go to the school several days at different times. Go without telling them you are coming.

Good Luck

it is(public) according to where you live such as in north, south Dakota, upper Midwest, they score quite higher on all of the intelligence tests than those in the south...private schools in California or charter shchools which bring a curriculum that is strong....if you could bring social disciplines back, public schools could come back

it depends upon in a place or country.... In US and some other advance in IT countries education is very much and well equipped and financially supported well by their government. so public schools from elementary to college students get good standard of studies.. But like here in the Phil....government cant afford to support all the needs of students in publoc schools... so private schools here ususally gives a good standard of education and in return the tuition fees are so high, so expensive. If you are in public school, have your reasources and self iniative to study well.. but somehow government is trying to support education to the best it can.

of course the answer is private...you're parents are paying for it and the teachers get money through your parents...so everyone's butt is on the line to do better and try to get away with less....plus they don't take as much crap kids like that have to from the public school kids...there's usually smaller classes...more one on one....a stricter policy....you're not going to just slide by easier
