Bush claims to be a Christian. And many Christians feel every word of the Bible is true and should be followed. How do you figure in recent happenings concerning illegal immigration? Lev19.33-34 When an alien resides with you in your land, you shall not oppress the alien. The alien who resides with you shall be to you as the citizen among you; you shall love the alien as yourself, for you were aliens in the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.

"You have a valid argument if the alien lives according to the Word of God. It also says in John's writings that if a person does not adhere to God's statutes, then they are to be kicked out of your presence. If the aliens will abide by all the laws--including labor laws, IRS laws etc., then they are to be welcomed. If they will not abide by all laws as citizens do, then we are to eject them--according to the Word. "

So... the ol' WWJD? Is it our job, as imperfect beings on God's earth to His reject people because they don't follow rules of the land? As believers, isn't it our responsibility to follow Jesus over these?

"enforcing the Law of the United States of America"

America is a melting pot. Someone in your family came here from somewhere else. What does the Statue of Liberty say on it??

First off, Bush IS a Christian, just because you may believe the bible instructs one way doesn't mean others do. Jesus freed us from the Law of the Old Testament, I don't know if you are or are not a Christian but it helps to have studied the intent of the writing and who it was to and how it applies today. Christians believe the Bible is God's true word, that doesn't mean every instruction is a "commandment" for today. If it was read through Lev. 20, then explain why we don't "obey" him. You can't take one scripture verse and make an entire government policy out of it, by the way, i understand it is supposed to be "separation of Church and State", if he "governed" with the bible, wouldn't that be illegal, technically.

Bush is not doing these people wrong. If anything, the aliens came into the United States illegally. If they had come into the States legally, I don't think that Bush would have had a problem with it. And there would have been a lot less friction caused from the whole thing.

You can't take just those two verses. You need to read the whole passage and apply the whole thing as you read it,

God Bless you.

Good point, Good scripture.

Just because he calls himself a Christian doesn't mean he follows the bible.

WATCH OUT: Sunestaur.. is misleading you. Remember Satan used the bible to "try" to mislead and disceive Jesus! Satan is cleaver. He will use the bible to get you to disobey God.

The Scripture are what they are, but the meaning and interpretation is not! He added his own words on the end. He said the 10 Commandements is no longer need to follow and obey. That is crazy, think about it. What we can murder now, steal? commit adulter? etc... The 10 commandment was not an ordinance, it was written with God's Hand (not trusted even by Moses's) written on Stone and put in the Ark!

Commandments on sacrificing animals has ended, that was an ordinance. Christ died and he was our last scrifice and took place of the lambs and other animals. That was a shawdow of things to come.

Remember what Jesus said, Matthew 5:19 - Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

Get understanding, don't be mislead. Research the truth! Its there, pray about it. Unless you want to believe a lie.

I am not saying we are saved by Following the Law, we show our :Love to God, by following his commands. John 14:15 - If ye love me, keep my commandments.

The law is NO LONGER IN EFFECT!

Ephesians 2:15 Through his body on the cross, Christ put an end to the law with all its commands and rules. He wanted to create one new group of people out of the two. He wanted to make peace between them.

Colossians 2:14 He wiped out the written Law with its rules. The Law was against us. It opposed us. He took it away and nailed it to the cross.

Galatians 2:16 ...No one can be made right with God by obeying the law.

Galatians 2:21 ...What if a person could become right with God by obeying the law? Then Christ died for nothing!

Galatians 5:4 Some of you are trying to be made right with God by obeying the law. You have been separated from Christ. You have fallen away from God’s grace... The ONLY verse that talks about falling from grace, and they did it by trying to follow the law!

Jesus said he didn’t come to destroy the law, but to fulfill it. (Matt 5:17) The effect was the same. Once fulfilled it was no longer in effect. The very next verse, Matthew 5:18, looks forward to the time when the law would be set aside. "...Not even the smallest stroke of a pen will disappear from the Law UNTIL EVERYTHING IS COMPLETED."

On the cross, Jesus' last recorded saying, "It is finished," is an important milestone. Because of Jesus life, Satan had been defeated. The law was finished and would no longer stand between God and mankind.

The 10 commandments along with the rest of the law ("commands and rules" from Ephesians 2:15) were "set aside" when they were fulfilled or completed at Jesus' resurrection. We are no longer bound by that law.

I think you have a good point. Maybe you could send an open letter to Mr.Bush? Unfortunately, many Christians believe themselves above the laws set in the Old Testament where the Book of Leviticus comes from. I guess, "I am the LORD your God" also no longer applies, for this is the first part of the first Commandment in the Old Testament.

Seems to me that these verses were written to The Israelites who came out of the land of Egypt not a bunch of Mexicans illegally crossing the border to work illegally in America. Seems to me that Bush is enforcing the Law of the United States of America.

Leviticus 19: 33 And if a stranger sojourn with thee in your land, ye shall not vex him. Leviticus 19: 34 But the stranger that dwelleth with you shall be unto you as one born among you, and thou shalt love him as thyself; for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God. The verses are the Lord's law given to the Nation of Israel The Nation of Israel has been blinded because they rejected the Lord Jesus Christ as their king. Romans 11: 25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. The verses have nothing to with the church not do they apply to our goverment. We are not under the law of Moses. Romans 3: 28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

yes all of the legal aliens are treated that way

And the bible also tells us to obey all the laws of the land, so the illegals also need to follow our laws, and need to turn thierself all in to the local authorities or go home and come back legally.

Legal immigration is fine and as the "aliens" of then had to assimilate to the culture of Israel so should immigrants to day be required to become Americans including the language. we welcome those who truly love America and want to be one with us. Those who are illegal or don't love America should not be allowed in.
