I think it sounds like a great deal for a first car! Lots of miles though.

I've had a volvo - parts are very expensive. Same with BMW, mercedes, british and italian cars.
If you don't have alot of money, stay with the cars that were cheaper to begin with. remember when you buy an $800. car, it's going to be a $3000 car in a year because of all the money it will cost to fix it. Generally, japanese cars are better made and their engines last longer.
Try a used honda, toyota, subaru, etc.
I've had an old dodge RV, and when I began to replace the parts that I'd replaced before, I gave it up. No more dodges for me.
Pick any parts store and chat the guys up at the parts store - ask them which car has the cheapest parts!
On any old car - check how much rust there is. Sometimes the frame is just about to collapse and if that's true, it's not worth fixing. If you're clueless, find a reliable mechanic to check the rust situation out for you by asking others where they get their car fixed.
Since you'll be buying a car that's "well used," you'll want a car that someone has taken care of, so you know what has been done to it to keep it repaired. The parts store guys usually know things such as, an old toyota truck's clutch can last as long as 140,000 miles if you're nice to it.
I'd pass on this one.
