The old Esso/Exxon logo was a tiger. Their ads told you to put a tiger in your tank, or fill your tank with our gasoline.

It was a "logo" for the Exxon Oil Company. When you "put a tiger in your tank" your vehicle was "supercharged."

perhaps it has something to do with the tiger tank in world war 2. i doubt it thought, it probably has something to do with Exxon and gas and stuff.

I think this refers an old gasoline slogan...but I'm not completely sure. Ask some grandparents--an older generation might know. It sounds like something from the early 50's.
