there are so many different religions. im full japanese without any religion. i respect those who believe in God, i am not against it. I was talking to my fiace about religion (he's a christian) he believes that God is real and if you truely believe, love him, respect him, and put him before anything, you will be send to Heaven. BUT what about those who believe in different religion? like, Buddha? I bet they are saying the same thing about Buddha too..right? So how does this work? Is God really true? what if we were wrong in the end? what if Buddha was the one who created this world? What will christians(or others) say when they find out it was Buddha (or others) who created this world? sorry, this is a hard question..i dont even know how to ask it.

Ok, I am Catholic and I've asked this question many times. I've studied other religions and ancient mythology. My personal belief is that God exists--AND he can be different things to everybody who believes. I believe that, since no one has ever really seen the face of God, God can be perceived as something different by everyone. So, God can exist in a world with Allah, Jehovah, Zeus, Buddha....

Does that make a little bit of sense?

Dear bonylyde,

I like to talk about logic here. Buddha is human just like Jesus. They have similarities, Buddha helped poor folks and taught them morals and values. Jesus helped the Israelites from ungodly way of life to the right path.

How could humans be God? Since you raised the question on "what if Buddha is the God" and not the Christian God as claimed by your fiance. The answer is right in front of your eyes. Both of them are victims of human idolisation of another human for his/her good teachings etc. As a result, these good teachings were taught to down to the future generations. Over the years some of the teachings get adulterated and people start using idols / paintings to remind them of this person called Buddha and Jesus. several generation later, the idols becomes thair God.

The truth is, there is only one God for the rest of human kind from Adam until the end of this world. This God is the one who created Buddha and Jesus.

Buddha was a prince who left his world to understand the life of his subjects outside the castle. How could he be a GOD? His mother given birth to him, how could he be a God? What happen to the world before he was born? Who was the God then? For me Buddhism is a form of teachings/culture but it is not a religion.

I probably could have bet money on people coming in here and saying "it doesn't matter what they say or what you believe, but our god is the truth and that's all there is to it"

Buddhism does not have a creation myth. It does not believe that Buddha made the universe, it knows that there was this cool guy a while ago, he's dead now, let's all try to be as cool as him. It does not have worship, praying to, or praising of a divine being. It is purely a moral philosophy.

Chances are, and as far as science and logical thought can tell, when we die the electromagnetic pulses in our brain run out of energy when the heart stops pumping oxygen to it and along with it goes our consciousness, memories and cognitive function. There will be no 'saying' anything and Christians who are still alive will continue to believe that their 'souls' have gone to a wonderful magical place or a horrible burning place for all eternity. It must be a comforting thought.

This is a question many people who did not grow up with a religion asks and many people who even grew up with one also ask. It is one that can not be answered. Nobody really knows if there is a god, or Buddha, or anything. You just have to go with what you believe in. If it's nothing then its nothing, if its god its god, Buddha then its Buddha. That's all there is.

Wow I did not know that Buddhist believed that Buddha created the world or anything for that matter? I will however answer your question. You are asking people about GOD. I would think it would be better if you asked GOD about people. Try it. Just ask him and open your eyes, ears, and heart because your answer will be coming soon.

May GOD richly bless you.

What matters is that you are true to yourself. Not what someone else wants you to believe - what you believe. I do not believe in any god(s). Going through the motions or adopting the trappings of a certain belief will not change that and I will not do that to get in someone elses good graces. If that is what they require to accept me, they are not worth it. A belief upon which you predicate your life is profoundly personal and noone has the right to demand that you accept their beliefs for them.

You are thinking to hard of the situation. Whether you belive it or not, this is true---God created the Heavens and the Earth. He created people of diffrent origins. There is only one true religion. And that is Christianity. You must belive in Jesus in order to pass through the gates of heaven. It is a Christians Job to spread the word of Jesus. Buddhist were created by God. The one known as Buddha was created by God. It started long ago when the orgins of people cast off into diffrent regions which created the religions today. Budda was once human, that wasn't his name at first. He was created by God not by Jesus.

So many Religions, and perspectives, now I can laugh, the answer is easy, especially after ALL I been through.
G O D is REAL. I was raised Catholic and do consider myself a Christian, and these are very good ones to choose, but I came to realize, that I don't need to be in any religion, I go to any type Church, God is in them all, I prayed about this God said to me not to join and Church, basically to go to them all, that you would learn more, take in their perspectives, and give yours, that you will learn more and help others understand, especially all that God himself teach me through all the experiences that he lead me through, to gain the knowledge and understanding.
I learned that you don't need to be in a religion, as long as you have a close personal relationship with God, through prayers, patients, seeking, experiences, openness-spirituality, talk to God, ask him questions, God communicates in so many ways, I felt God's presence intervene in me in the moment of truth, on a job site during a meeting, I felt God above me, in me, and all around me, warm and happy feeling, and God said in my head, "I am happy with you". God saved my life, seriously more than ten times.... praise and thank you God- Jesus
Let Him guide you, pray and ask him...... God Bless you

Do the best whatever you can and being honest of what you believe. God shall not punish you for the things you can't do. That's some sort of advice from a friend.

do not worry how people call God with names, do not worry abut the forms of worship -- all one has to consider is the DEEDS. doing Good Deeds will always lead one to bliss in the end, irrespective of any God one beleives in.
