I've started dating again, and I don't know if it is wrong to assume that the guy should pay.

I hate to be the party pooper here, but I think it all kinda depends on who asked who out. I would say for sure he should pay if he asks you out, and I would think, if he was really a man, even though you may have asked him out, he would be a man and pay, but sometimes that's not the case. I was listening to the radio the other morning, and they had bad date stories. This one gal called in saying that a man had asked her out, and she said yes, and he said, how about we got to Dayton, which was probably maybe 45 Min's to an hour away, she said sure, and then the day comes, and he asks her if she can drive cause his car is supposedly messed up, she says fine, they go and play putt putt golf, and he pays for himself, and makes her pay for his own, then, he asks her if she is hungry, and would like to get something to eat, and she says sure, and they get there, and he orders the most expensive thing on the menu, and then says, separate checks please, that ended up being the last date, here's another even worse story, a man and women went out on a date, and they went and just got ice cream, well, there was no second date, and the man ends up emailing the women requesting she pay for her ice cream. Even sends his address. So, while you would think a guy might pay, doesn't mean he is going too.

It really depends. The two situations are
1) That you offer to pay half (so as not to be rude) but him being a gentlemen he will pay the whole thing and you may pay a dollar or so for change.

2) You offer to pay half and he accepts

Usually it turn out to be number one becuase they don't want to ask much of you, but in either case you should offer to pay half and bring some dough with you. Good luck and have fun!

In general, the guy should pay on the first date. However, you should always be prepared for the chance that the guy you are with is either poor or doesn't know any better.

Yes, it is wrong because in our "modern day world" a girl should show some independence at least on the first date. If the guy is a gentleman, he won't make you pay.

I don't think so. I figure whoever did the asking out should pay. Although if you are unsure make sure to bring some money with you (that's what I always did because you never know).

i hear what there all sayin but in this new and bold world i find that somewomen are insulted if you just assume that your going to pay. i find its best to ask upfront when your setting up the date. but most the time men pay and i think that is sexist and wrong.

If he asked you out and it's your first date with him, I would expect him to pay unless you guys talk it over and decide to split it.

Personally, I would pay half and she would pay half. Money does not grow on trees.
