why cant they wear mini skirts,if miniskirts are the norm in society

Women CHOOSE to be Nuns. No one forces them to do it, it is a high honor and they are happy to put aside things like miniskirts. Some of the greatest Nuns ever known were absolutely beautiful women. St. Therese (the Little Flower) was one such beauty. St. Theresa of Avila was also known to be quite stunning.

The questions about nuns and miniskirts does not arise as all the former Christian societies do not prescribe on how women ought to dress. The European Enlightenment established that religion was not the sole source of truth. Ecclesiastic fashions change with the times in western Christian tradition. The traditional garb of nuns tended to be that of the times the order was founded. It has been said that in the Islamic tradition the edicts for women to adopt modest dress were made so that the followers of the new religion would adopt the dress of pious Christian and Jewish women. Like the dietary laws in Islam are no doubt derived from the Jewish dietary laws. Many nuns now wear regular 'civilian clothes'. Uncovered ecclesiatical meat one might say?

They cannot wear miniskirts because they are nuns. It is a personal choice that comes with requirements.

Nuns choose to become nuns and wear the habit, which they wear as a symbol of being brides of jesus, married to jesus. Therefore they do not marry a mere mortal man. Very different to muslim women who are married to mortal men. Who knows what a nun wears under her habit, or what a muslim woman wears under her clothing. Not appropriate attire for the british weather, ideal for the dusty desert.

I find it weird that when Muslim women CHOOSE to dress modestly, they are told they're being forced, even if they say they honestly chose it.
I'm not talking about face covering.. When some Muslim women wear hijab it is looked down upon.. But nuns are respected... I respect both -- nuns and Muslim women.

some religious orders have uniforms but other than that there is no dress restrictions
