Look for bird marts. You can check the web and find some in your area. They have bird supplies and a lot of birds. I just bought a cocktiel for $50 that would have been $120 in a pet store. She's tame and sweet because she was hand fed, which is a must! Make sure the parrot is hand fed, no matter where you get it.

Probably the same place you are going to end up trying to sell the same parrot you bought for cheap because you didn't think about the consequences and responsibilities of getting a Parrot.
I don't know what you think you are getting into, but Parrots are one the most expensive animal companions to keep.
Okay, let's take a few liberties and say you got a a Blue and Gold Macaw for a hundred bucks. Great.
Now what? You are going to bring him home and keep him where? The couch?
The cost of the bird is the smallest part of where your money is going to go.
A cage for a Macaw will be at LEAST 350.00. (Do you have room for a large cage; at least 4 feet wide by 3 and half feet deep by 6 feet high?) Accessories: perches, bowls, swings, an additional playgym, a carry-cage etc. are more money. a hundred bucks or more just for this stuff.
Annual Vet bills for a wellness checkup is going to run 150.00 and up.
Toys at the minimum per year for a Macaw is going to run you about 300.00, probably more.
Food and supplements are going to be at least about 30.00 to 40.00 a month. This includes Pellets, healthy fruit and vegetables, vitamin and mineral supplements, treats, and other odds and ends.
The point I'm trying to make is that most people familiar with the cost of the upkeep of just one parrot estimate it will cost you anywhere from 600.00 to almost 1600.00 A YEAR.
And of course this doesn't count the possible injuries you are going to have to go to the Doctor for because you probably haven't thought about learning how to train this "Cheap" parrot and he's biting the crap out of you.

This "cheap parrot" was cheap because someone else wants to get rid of him. Why? Because they had absolutely no idea how to train him and they can't handle him any more.
Or he bit somebody because they had absolutely no idea how to train him.
Or he screams his head off all day because they had absolutely no idea how to train him and the neighbors are calling the police.

You can adopt a parrot fairly inexpensively. But you go through a screening process, you have to take classes on training and behavior and they do a home inspection. And there is no guarantee you'll be chosen as an adoptive family, because if you don't cut it, they won't place a bird with you.
Start by doing research.
Let's wake you up to the realities of Parrot ownership by having you visit this website:

If you are still interested, email me and I'll get you in touch with the nearest Parrot Rescue to your home. At the end of the classes and work involved, you might find yourself with a parrot. But most people find out what's involved and run in the other direction because they simply had no idea how much work it is.
Good Luck with your decision.

You can get a cheap parrot for around 40 bucks if you want a lovebird, they're a parrot. So are Macaws, Sun Conures, and so is a Blue Headed Pionus. your looking for a cheap parrot, but are very vague. If you want a cheap bird, find one that has possibly been abused, is emotionally fragile, agressive, and plucks his feathers. That is the only way you will get a bird for cheap. I have scars all over my hands from my birds, and they're very tame, I just caught them on a bad day. Be prepared for 3 times that much. Good luck!

Parrots are not cheap...nor are they cheap or easy to care for. If you are already concerned about the cost you should find another pet. These animals live 30-100 years and the last thing they need is a home where their needs are skimped on.

There's no such thing as a cheap parrot.
You need to do lots of research before getting a parrot. They're just as smart, need just as much time, attention, and stimulation as a pre-school child.
Think long and hard before you decide to get one. It's like having a toddler for the rest of your life. Complete with tantrums and destroying stuff.
Consider rescue. You get lots of "extras" for one low price, including training in bird behavior so you can be the best parrot parent you can be.

PLEASE KNOW that the expense of BUYING the bird is MINIMAL to the expense of OWNING a bird!! Have you seen how much bird toys cost? If you don't buy it toys, and a variety of them, and make sure it's healthy, and supply it with a nice large cage, good quality pellets and regular vet visits, it may start to pick its feathers and then you've got a REAL expense on your hands. Please know that birds are expensive to care for, and they will be for a very long time because they live for a long time. If you can't affort to buy the bird, then you can't afford to keep it.

please don't. If you buy one for cheap, it's definitely gonna be one that was stolen from the wild illegally.

don't get a bird. get a cat or something. please. read up on the illegal parrot trade on the internet.

No breeder will sell you one for cheap, but you can purchase one from an animal rescue group for under $500.

Check out this site to find groups in your area:

www.petfinder.com

But, please, please read up on the breed that you want to buy so that you know what you're getting in to.

Best of luck.

Cheers,

Rosefern
