A lot of things could have been done with the money, but it was appropriated for defense. Everyone knows it's a lot of money, so you're not giving anyone needed perspective. We can't take money from medicare and use it fix roads just because you feel like it would be better spent.

Every homeowner has choice to invest in solar power, most choose not to. It's not productive to run your mouth about it. If you want change, create it. Develop a solar product that can replace whatever current system you believe needs improvement and sell it like you mean it; at a reasonable price. Invest your own time and your own resources to make it happen. Or, shut up.

I don't even know where to begin. I'm surprised how many uneducated people DIDN'T answer this question. I really did expect a lot more stupid answers when I clicked on this.

I'm not going to rant at the person who talked about our own comfort and pocketbook because that person obviously doesn't know anything about our founding fathers or the process and revisions that the Constitution went through.

I'm also not going to single out anyone else.

But just think, the money that we spent could have gone to so many other things. Like education.

For that matter, so could the money that's going towards (and will be going towards for a number of years to come) the 700 mile border fence.

We can't educate our children, we can't make our cars more enviromentally concious, we can't outfit our homes with solar power...but we can build a fence at our border. Because that solves the illegal immigration problem. That keeps out the LARGE percentage of illegal immigrants who sneak over the border. The HUGE percentage of the them.

But hey, anything for the peace of mind of the largely ignorant public, right?

That sounds about right, not counting also feeding and housing the some of the hungry and homeless on top of that. But, the US government doesn't really focus on it's own country anymore. Just like families, all countries are dysfunctional and we need to start focusing more on our country than we have been.

Yes, but the oil companies would go bankrupt. I know George Bush is looking out for my best interests.

So, I take it that your comfort and pocketbook are the only things that are of importance in your life. You feel that as long as you have everything you want the rest of the world doesn't matter.
