Tell him Jesus had long hair. Also, say you want your hair to be different from everyone else's.

Don't make this a deal breaker with your dad. You will have plenty of time to grow your hair.
Your job right now is to become educated and become independent, as your parents did when they grow up. Then you can have a kid and when he asks to grow his hair long or cut it reallly short you can say yes or no.

These teen years are so brief compared to your entire life ahead of you.

You could ask your job about what they would do if you grew your hair. If they say sure if you keep it in a neat pony tail. Or they might say , no you need to keep it short and neat.

You might not understand it now but there will be more important things in your life as your grow and become a man,, Your teen years will just be a very small part of your life and you can make it or break it during these years.

I think you should approach it as a growing up thing. Sure he did it when he was 19 and probably on his own, and he had to learn the lessons of male long hair on his own. If he allows you to have longer hair while you are still under his roof, you may not have to suffer as much as he may have suffered (ie, loss or inability to get a job, ostracism, etc.), and he can help guide you through any rough spots you may encounter. Personally, I agree with liking my boys to have short hair because it looks neater to me, but I understand they will want to grow it out at some point. It's only natural to want to experiment with every possible look you can make for yourself before deciding on one or two or three that you really like. Good Luck

Tell him you know you are only 15, but have this itch right now to grow your hair. That you would rather do it now, when you are young and allowed to make mistakes (because you are young) than when you get to college or after, and you should be more serious then.
Tell him also that you want to try it out, but it's not a permanent thing. If you see that you get trouble at school or work, or if you just realize how crazy it was, you can just go cut it. (and actually mean it)
Most importantly, when you talk to him, be calm and under no circumstances should you get upset or raise your voice. If you get angry, you won't get anything.
good luck.

Have a friend with longer hair style it so it so it would look very presentable for work to show your dad. Like a smooth, low bun. I think pulling your hair back with long hair looks better than short hair.

You will wear your hair as he says or you will get your assets out of his house. Simple. You are a kid. He is your father. He has already made every fool mistake you will ever make. Listen to him. In your future years, you will come to know how smart he really is, even though you know so much more than he does at this juncture.

Tell him if you aren't able to express yourself now, you will live at home until you are thirty. That should do the trick. If that doesn't work, tell him you want to shave your head and all your body hair in protest. He'll give in.
