Your teeth will feel pretty sore after you get them because they're moving along the wire. The arch wire that goes through the brackets on each tooth is what guides the movement of your teeth, so each time you go in for a visit, they'll change the wire and your teeth will feel pretty sore each time.
What is probably worse than the discomfort of your teeth moving into place is the presence of the braces themselves. As your teeth move a lot the first year or so, the wire will poke out and jab you in the mouth, causing sores, or bleeding if the wire gets long enough. Make sure you go to the orthodontist and have them cut the wire if you feel it poking you (you can probably just walk in and have them do that periodically).
You'll probably also get some sores from the brackets rubbing up against the side of your mouth. Use wax for that until the sores heal.
Good luck with your braces! I've had mine for several months longer than the ortho said I'd have to, and I'm pretty miserable right now. Not to mention I'm 19. If you're still in middle school or high school, consider yourself very lucky.

Getting them on isn't too painful but for the first few days, there is pain but the beautiful smile is worth it. Your orthodontist will tell you to take ibuprofen, over the counter pain reliever, and make sure you ask what to put on the inside of your gums (inside of your lips) because they will most likely get chafed at first from the metal- oh, maybe you're getting the new clear braces and if so, much less pain involved----good luck and look forward to that beautiful smile!

Not really. They feel strange at first because you are not used to them but you will get used to them before you know it. Just make sure you keep a good oral hygiene (brush and floss well and after every meal). This way, you will prevent gum disease.
And just think of the results; you will have great looking teeth in no time. Good luck.

Unfortunately, your teeth will tend to get sore sometimes. Usually this only occurs when the wire is changed or adjusted. It is a soreness that only lasts for a day or so. Don't worry about it, it will all be worth it when its done!

DESPITE THE HORROR STORIES PEOPLE MAY TELL YOU,GETTING BRACES DOES NOT HURT. HAVING BRACES DOES NOT HURT. THE DAY WHEN THEY CHANGE WIRES THEY MAY FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE FOR A DAY OR SO, BUT IT ISN'T BAD.

yes, all of your teeth feel looose, and it hurts to put pressure on youre teeth, kinda like when a baby is teething kind of pain, and it really hurts to eat, then after about a month or so, it wont hurt anymore, than it hurts sometimes when they are tightened.

Yes it hurts like hell. And then you go in once a month and have them tightened. Then you cant eat. And when you finally can eat food gets stuck in them. I had braces for four years. Hated them!
