There are 27 books in the Bible with at a guess at least 100,000 verses. Of these only about 30 mention anything about homosexuality, which is 0.03% (that's substantially less than 1%). The majority are in the Old Testament, almost all are more about promiscuity, prostitution, or rape, not one is about two same sex people in a committed relationship, and *Jesus* said absolutely nothing about it.

* So, why are Christians so hung up on homosexuality?
* Why do they make such a big deal about it?
* Why do they refuses to extend the same legal job and housing protections that are provided under Title 19 regarding a person's religion?

Why is that when someone advocates against discrimination, bigots presume the person advocating is gay?

Exactly.

Leviticus 18:22 states homosexual activities are an abomination
Leviticus 11:9-12 states that the eating of shrimp is an abomination

If Christians protest gay marriage why don't they protest at Red Lobster?

They won't answer that.

It's not about following god. It's about homophobia.

You know you have the right god when he hates all the same people you do.

The Bible emphatically states that "neither fornicators...nor homosexuals...will inherit the kingdom of God". (1Cor 6:9) The Scriptures repeatedly and consistently condemn homosexual practices (see Lev 18 :22,Romans1:26). God loves all persons, including homosexuals, but HE HATES HOMOSEXUALITY. The Bible condemns ALL types of fornication which would therefore include homosexuality (Matthew 15:19; Mark 7:21; Acts 15:20,29; Galations 5:19-21; Thes 4:3; Hebrews 23:4).
God's plan for sexual relationships is his ideal for his creation. Unfortunately, sin distorts the natural use of God's gifts. Sin often means not only denying God but also denying the way we are made. When people say that any sex act is acceptable as long as nobody gets hurt, they are fooling themselves. In the long and often short run, sin hurts individual, families and whole societies. Look at the AIDS epidemic that has taken over many countries. God's laws are for our own good.

Don't know where you get your housing discrimination facts from but that's against the law. As far as everything else goes, you are assuming it's Christians who are so "hung up" on homosexuality. To me, it's just another sin that Jesus died to forgive. Repent, be forgiven, then go and sin no more.
P.S. There are 66 books in the Bible.

Christians are not "hung up" on homosexuality. People are asking Christians about this because it's constantly in the news and there are many people who seek to legalize gay marriage, etc. I respond to questions about how I feel about it, according to what the bible says. And by the way, if something is "only" mentioned as many times (in the bible) as your statistics say...that doesn't mean God meant it any less!

I am a preterist revolutionary Christian -- I believe Revelation has been fulfilled completely and that we no longer live under the old Convenant of the Jews. About 99% of Christians disagree with me, but those Christians also don't seem to believe in Jesus properly.

The entire convenant of the Old Testament is gone -- we don't have to live under the "simple" Laws of the Jews. We don't need human judges or officers to administer the law -- Christ gave us a new Covenant which is much more "difficult" to follow.

I believe that having sex with your wife can be sinful. I believe that prayer can be sinful! I believe that charity can be sinful. Why? Because Jesus set a new bar and even talked about how high it was. The only Commandments that are important anymore are the first 2 -- Love God first in EVERYTHING you do, and love everyone else more than yourself!

If you kiss your wife without loving God, you're sinning. Homosexuality and heterosexuality don't matter in the new Kingdom of God.

All the Old Testament was an example of how trashy we mortal humans are -- we could not follow God's simple Laws. The Old Testament is important for only ONE REASON -- to show why it was so important for God to take mortal form as Jesus and present Himself. Jesus was a prime example of perfection: if we mortals copied Him perfetctly, He would not have to die. The reason for Jesus' death was to fulfill the penalties of the Old Testament so we wouldn't have to follow those rituals and cultish creeds and ridiculous mandates anymore. We now have a new Way: love, peace, humility and sacrifice.

I can not judge anyone else -- Jesus told me not to because my sin is so big. I can not hate you for being gay or for being straight, I can not hate you for having more or having less. I have to be peaceful to you, love you, be humble always, and if none of that works, I have to sacrifice myself to get it to work -- even if you want to kill me.

hmmm... i don't think many verses mention murder either, just a few, does that make murder fine? also, is the Old testament less valuable than the new testament? also, if those same 30 verses concern themselves more with rape, promiscuity etc., then does that mean that because those are only sparingly mentioned that rape is OK? stop holding yourself to a double standard. not saying that homosexuality is necessarily right or wrong, what i'm really saying is that those 30 verses are just as valid as any other verse, so you cannot simply disregard them.

You raise very good questions, that will be answered by exactly 0 people of reason.

Certainly one reason for being so hung up on it is the lasting stigma of deviance attached to homosexuality. For instance, the DSM classified homosexuality as a disorder until 1973.

Are there any verses in the New Testament about men lying with men? If there are, that is your answer. If not, then they shouldn't say anything. They probably will though, because christians have a way of 'assuming' what is wrong without having any concrete evidence of it's existance.

Btw, why even care about the Holey Babble?

How did you find 30!

Please, enumerate them!

I found LESS than a dozen and as many as 45 on FORNICATION which is hetero!

E-mail me with your list of BIBLE CITATIONS

I find a few in Romans, a few in Corinthians a few in the Old Testiment.

Less than 12 total.

If you're finding 30 that's serious, for it comes close to the 45 I found for heteros!

Because it grosses them out and the bible gives them an excuse to say it's wrong. You'll notice they're not too up-in-arms about people who eat shrimp or toss the old pigskin around.
