my pastor said today there were only two....the blind man and the thief on the cross...He said everyone else, including the apostles and the blessed mother called him "Lord" and other such names. I'm not arguing with him I had just never known that.

2 people like you said and one demon.

The blind man as you said.
Mark 10:47
When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!"
Luke 18:38
He called out, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!"

The thief on the cross as you said.
Luke 23:42
Then he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom. "

Legion, but they are a demon.

Mark 5:7
He shouted at the top of his voice, "What do you want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? Swear to God that you won't torture me!"
Luke 8:28
When he saw Jesus, he cried out and fell at his feet, shouting at the top of his voice, "What do you want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg you, don't torture me!"

I think it was just an example of respect and courtesy that was extended to all that weren't immediate family members. A modern equivalent would be if you were introduced to Queen Elizabeth, you wouldn't say "Hi, Liz...". Or the Pope.. you wouldn't say "Good morning, Joe". Whether you are of their culture or not.

First name familiarity has just been a recent development in my own lifetime. As a child, I would have never dreamed of addressing my friend's parents by their first names. It was always "Mr." or "Mrs". But that is quite common now.

Sorry , but I think your pastor might be wrong. He is right that every one else called him by "Lord". I believe the blind man called him "Master".

Well, they also said "Son of David, have mercy on me." They also called him Rabbi (Master), too. Even the evil spirit (who's name was Legion), said in Mark 5:7, "What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not." And even Satan himself said in Matthew 4:3, when he was tempting Jesus, "If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread."

I know this doesn't answer your question (and please forgive me for this) but my standard response to Jesus questions is that it doesn't matter because he is a myth. Sorry, but that is what I believe and probably always will until someone can come up with some kind of proof that Jesus was anything other than your basic human being.

That sounds right.

I'm too lazy to do the research at the moment.
