how do you define what a man is or should act as regard being in a relationship?

I am intrigue by such comments of "being a man" ,honestly I think that being a man is the one that cares,respects,loves,support and protects in anyway possible at your girlfriend ,wife ,friend ,lover ,etc.. so what is that woman mean by saying "be a man" or "he's not a man"?

Being a man is all the things you said, plus being able to hold a decent job with a weekly paycheck. Different women have different views about what "being a man" means.
