I am a longtime baker and I can tell you about cheesecake.

If you're asking if people can tell the difference between a jello-pudding type cheesecake and an actual homemade cheesecake, the answer is YES most people can.

Jello cheesecake doesn't taste nearly as good as the real thing. Don't even try to make a jello cheesecake and pass it off as the real thing, you'll really lose points with the old school, even if they don't call you on it to your face.

However, a real homemade cheesecake can take a lot of work, and the ingredients alone cost upward of $12, not including the cost of a spring-form pan that is usually used for the homemade kind (that's an additional 10 bucks, minimum, bc you usually have to buy them as a set of 3, even at walmart). Once you are finished baking a real cheesecake, you have to leave it sit, undisturbed, in the oven for at least 6 hours if you want to avoid it cooling too fast and getting huge suface cracks.

So if you are making a cheesecake from scratch, you really have to follow the instructions and know what you are doing. I wouldn't recommend you make a cheesecake for the first time for anything where presentation is very important (in other words, don't wait til the night before Christmas dinner to make your first homemade cheesecake).

Homemade cheesecakes take kind of intermediate level baking skills, not for people who have little experience in the kitchen. Of course, all a person needs to do is practice to get better. If you have the time, money and inclination to make a great cheesecake, you should be able to get it right on the second or third time.

Here is my breakdown of cheesecake

Jell-o: is cheap, and tastes cheap. absolutely no substitute for the real thing. People who think jellocheesecake is real cheesecake also think eggo waffles are real waffles.

Store-bought (gourmet frozen): Good. Costs as much to make it yourself, but you don't have to do the work. People will know you didn't make it, but at least they know you didn't try to pull that jellocheesecake bullcrap, either.

Homemade: excellent. a person can taste the heart you put into something homemade. Looks so elegant, gorgeous.

If you can't afford a frozen cheesecake or a homemade cheesecake, just make a Krusteaz cinnamon crumbcake. They cost about $5 to make (same as jellocheesecake), and they're probably *easier* to make, but they are the BEST baking from a box you'll ever find and I am not being sarcastic- if yr gonna fake it, fake it like this.

The cheesecake that you bake is drier and denser and is preferred by most people. The mixes (I think jello has one) are also good, but they have a completely different texture and taste. If you want something fast try the mix method, if you have time and want to invest in a springform pan, then I would definitely suggest the bake method!

Are you talking about a cheese cake that is made from scratch with eggs??? If so, you mix all ingredients then cook it in a spring form pan then it will be solid and all together but if you mix the filling then you can just put it into different kind of pan and crust and don’t have to use the spring form pan, also after the filling has been bake and you fill a gram crack crust pie pan it will not have any cracks in it.

i do unlike cheesecake, won't be able to stand them, except my son makes it. yet an knowledgeable wager could be that the baked ones incorporate eggs & the refrigerated ones use gelatin or some gelling agent to set. mi made the refrigerated style as quickly as from the container, & i'm specific there have been no eggs in touch for my visitors did no longer consume eggs. won't be able to remark on the style, as i advised you.

For the most part with homeade cheescakes you do bake them... jello instant cheescake and such are just as yummy and about 90 minutes quicker while actually preparing them ...sot he difference is homade baked cheesecakes you wait longer for.
