Well, because people can't seem to agree with each other in civilized ways, the stupid government loves to blow people up and use all their cool machines, because there isn't anyone of the opposite side that will be listened to about stopping it without getting blown up, and so people can die in an honory way.

If two sides simply cannot agree or find a common ground, the only way things will work out is if one is gone. That is why most wars start. But dont think it is just over petty disagreements, hitler wouldnt come to terms with us, so it created war. There will be an eventual conflict with north korea for that reason. That is why most pacifists are naive. As evil of a man as Stalin was, he made an interesting observation
"Death solves all problems: No man, No problem"
Im no war junkie, but sometimes war is the only way to resolve a problem.

War happens because one side makes the assumption that the other is too weak, either in resolve or capability, to respond to something they choose to do. It's a miscalculation.

Take the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. They believed that they could damage us sufficiently to make it impossible for us to respond in a short length of time, which would cause the US to negotiate a peace more favorable to Japan than what went before the attack. This was an error partly because they did not hit our most important assets, the aircraft carriers, and partly because FDR wanted into the war against Germany anyway, and the attack by their ally gave him the excuse.

Right now we are headed for a war with Iran because Iran believes we do not have the resolve to deal with them before they get nukes. If they are incorrect, the war will be because of their miscalculation of our resolve, and if they are correct, the upcoming war will be because those that have caused our resolve to be weak have miscalculated Iran's nature as peaceful. Either way we are at war because of someone's miscalculation.

WAR is a social disease and should be treated as such. The cure is PEACE! Anyone that wishes to encourage war should be dropped by parachute into the middle of a battle field completely naked with nothing but his intellect and let them see what it means to make WAR! When world leaders are subjected to this approach I guarantee that war will cease immediately!

War happens because our politicians and diplomats fail, it's that simple. If diplomacy were left up to the mothers of soldiers, war would never happen.

I agree with the control idea. But would like to expand on that. It is also often a miscalculation. In that the people that start them think their violent action will cause the other to comply.

As a general rule compliance generally requires incapacitation.

All wars to date have been started over land. Who participates in the war depends on the location of that land. Who is right or wrong depends on who wins and whether the pople of the captured land eventually have their lives improved or not, and who is left to judge what "improved" means.

Well a good way to put it is that a smaller, and dumber country (Iraq) is gelous of a smarter and bigger country (USA) and doesn't like it so they attack that country for no good reason.

Conflict over religion or resources.

It's foolish to wage war without conquering... we should really be working for peace if we aren't going to take over.
