I'm just needing a verse. I can't think of where it would be.

By the way, I believe one should not have sex before marriage, so I'm not trying to challenge that idea.

I cant think of a single verse of the top of my head that specifically states that relations are forbidden before marriage.

the reason (I think) for this is because sex was often seen as a way to create a marriage hence the term "consummate"

so to say not to have sex before marriage when sex starts the marriage is kind of hard.

There are quite a few verses...

a. 1 Cor 6:18
b. Rom 1:29-32
c. 1 Cor 6:13
d. 1 Cor 7:2
e. Jude 1:7

The focus is not sex before marriage, but rather sex outside marriage which is essentially what fornication is about. The "penalty" in the old testiments ranges from marrying the girl for taking away her virginity, to death in the new testiment (as interpreted by some churches). The focus is not about the penalty per se, but about how sex outside marriages sins against the body of Christ, read 1 Cor 6:18.

Hope it helps

In Corinthians 2:19 it says something but I don't have any idea. Sex before marriage feels wrong to people who are religious and religious people feel sex is wrong out of wedlock because it is then considered to be fornication and that, while it feels the same as sex when married only less boring, in many cases except mine. is dirty in the minds of the religious.

Where is "fornication" mentioned in the Bible? Everywhere.

1 Corinthians 7:2 - "Nevertheless, to avoid fornication (sex before marriage), let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband."

check out Corinthians 6:12 in the bible where they talk about sexual immorality.

In Biblical terms, sex outside of marriage was also considered sexual immorality. It is also believed that when you lay with someone you become one flesh and GOD felt that man having sex outside of marriage he was having sex with a harlot (prostitute), and he did not want man to be one flesh with a harlot which is why it is considered sexual immorality.

1 Thessalonians 4:3-5: "Finally then, bretheren, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality; that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor, not in passion of lust..."

1 Corinthians 6:13-19 :"Now the body is not for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body... Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a harlot? Certainly not!...Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?"

You also NEED to read Romans 1:18-32

I think the beginning of Proverbs. Also, I own an edition that talks about it in the introduction of Song of Solomon (also know as Song of Songs).
