My guess is cats are probably more cuddly and aren't as loud as dogs. And dogs tend to be vicious. Maybe psychologically cats have more of an impact in helping patients recuperate......

I think dogs are better in improving patients’ recuperation faster. Dogs are better in showing love and affection than cats. Also, dogs are more likely to spend time with a patient than a cat (playing games, doing tricks, or just lying on their lap). I have to say that I am bias because I really do not like cats. Cats are just too independent for me.

There is nothing better than a Chihuahua to help a patient recover from a major illness. Just ask my husband who had stomach cancer and surgery earlier this year. Our dogs were by his side thru the whole recuperation. Without them I don't think he would have made it. A cat usually just wants to go off and be by itself. Not much comfort in that.

Nope. Actually small dogs, except chihuahua, are the best for patien recuperation. While cats are nice and even soft and likeable, unlike a dog they cannot be trained to not jump, dig, scratch, etc. But because small dogs are the same size, able to fit on the lap, and are trainable they are actually the most desired, most used, and the most liked in patient care.

Well, there are sure alot of therapy dogs out there that go visiting those who are recuperating from some kind of illness.
It doesn't matter, dog or cat, they are both good for someone who is recuperating. Petting an animal can help lower your blood pressure... don't think it matters dog or cat, just a personal preference thing for most people.

I have worked in an old peoples home and they had a small dog that just wondered around the elderly loved him.

I think cats are better than dogs, but that's only because I don't care for dogs. They are noisy, crotch sniffing annoyances.

well i really dont know but i hate cats cause they gave my best friend lice!!! and she started to cry because it was 1st sleepover at my other friends house and we were going to haunted houses!!! so she thought that she was ruining our party!!!
