what kind of paper is best for invitations? We're making our own invitations. I have a program with premade invitations. I only used them as an idea of what to say by the way. All I need to know is is regular printer paper fine for it, or do I need to find a specific kind of paper to print the invitations on? Thanks in advance for your response (assuming I get a response lol).

I would use card stock. You can find card stock in many nice colors now. I also saw a very pretty invitation once. It was a picture of the bride and groom to be with an over lay of vellum. The printing was on the vellum. It was connected at the top with an eyelet and a bow tied through the eyelet. Not sure on the cost though. They did do these themselves.

The bottom line I think is whatever you're comfortable with. If it looks good to you, and it gave you an opportunity to be creative, then it's fine.

Personally, I wouldn't feel comfortable with regular printer paper. I would feel that people would think I'm cutting corners rather than being creative.

During my last visit at Office Depot, I saw a large selection of paper that wasn't regular printer paper. A multitude of colors, textures, and some with pretty designs on it. Most stores that carry office supplies will have a variety of paper stock available.

Also, there's a variety of software that will allow you to print some pretty fancy invitations. The software usually gives you many templates and a considerable amount of flexibility.

Good luck.

the correct answer is the boring one. Print your invitations on something unique. Go to the office supply place and find paper that is different; maybe close to one of your favorite colors. The paper might be a bit thinner, but it will stand out because it is not the normal beige, off white or white color. And actually regular paper that is made for computer printers work better than a heavier grade would. You will have your own style put to the printed product, so it will look fantastic.

I'd use a special kind of paper. This is a wedding after all and things should be fancy, whether it's the tables, the silverware, etc. Regular printer paper is the better economical buy, but this is a wedding :). Go for it and use special paper and it'll help make your wedding that much more special. Nothing says you're invited more than a special type of paper to put the message on.

I would use cardstock, basically it's like your printer paper, but thicker, and it comes in any color you might want. It's not too much more expensive than regular printer paper. You can buy it at any craft store or even Walmart.

For our invites we got 150 pieces of white for about $5 at walmart, and 100 pieces of black for $10 and 30 pieces of pink at a craft store. But if you buy online, you could get it way cheaper.

Card stock may be too thick but you do have a lot of options. I'd check out the paper in craft stores like Michaels.

Here's a website that I frequent ... http://www.weddingbee.com/tag/invitations and the link to their "invitation" section to show you what others are doing.

Good Luck and Congrats!

This is right up my alley since I am a printer by trade. Since you are doing the invitations on your home printer make sure that its for ink jet and/or laser printers (ink jet is cold print laser uses heat). If you go to your local office store (office max or Kinko's, sometimes craft or art stores) you will find a variety of papers that are OK. good luck and ask lots of questions at the store. Good Luck.

cardstock....it is thicker and comes in tons of colors. If you want to make it simpler, go to Michaels and by a wedding invitation kit. It has the card stock, envelopes, thank you cards and blank programs for you to print on your own computer. You can always embellish with stamping, embossing, ribbon, vellum or charms.

I reccommend a nice card stock. You can also get plain flat card invites at a hobby store for around $10 /50. We bought our blank invites from www.customweddingsolutions.com. They have some nice and affordable "Do-it-Yourself" ones.

Good lUck

Pay someone else to make the invitations. They can make them look really pretty. They have a GREAT selection of paper and designs and everything. That's you best bet. Congrats and good luck.
