It can come in different forms. Sometimes I just know that God is telling me something about my life and what He wants me to do. It isn't that I hear an actual voice it is just something that comes upon my thoughts in such a way that I know in my "knower" that it is God. One time some years ago I knew that God was telling me that He wanted me to pray more often. Another time I knew that God was telling me that He wanted me to join the counseling ministry and when I told Him that I didn't really want to join it was like He told me "Look! Just do what I say, if it wasn't for me you would still be lost in your sins." So I'm like "Ok, yes Lord." Another time when I was a fairly new Christian and I was going through a trial and ready to give up I suddenly had an audio memory of my Pastor teaching about God having a great plan for every believer's life. That was the Holy Spirit reminding me of God's word.

But I have to tell you that God doesn't speak to me every day in a way that I can be sure about. It only happens when there is something that He wants me to know about a specific situation. It's not like I can call Him on the prayer phone and have a long chat whenever I want or anything like that.

The bible was meant to clear up the confusion from the voices of people who say God speaks to them. God does speak through nature, conscious and a still small voice. But he can never contradict what is written in his word. So, if you think you are hearing some voice or getting some direction from God it has to be in agreement with what he has already revealed in the Bible. I have never heard an audible voice, just a sense of leading. Sometimes in church the speaker will say things that are just exactly what I need to hear, I think that is really God speaking to me.

Often God does talk to people today, but not many. Some of the claims are just plain false. Many folks what other people to think they are real spiritual. God has spoken to me 4 or 5 times in 15 years. It was always short, and to the point, and in answer to a prayer. Every time I knew it was God. Every time God spoke to me is was not an audible voice, but i could clearly hear it in my spirit.

In all my years God has never actually talked to me.

I get nudged. I get directed. I get held back. Sometimes I get my head turned into a direction.

IT's all pretty vague and God leaves me on my own.

I do a lot of talking to God, but I only get some vague things back, mostly through the Angels, probably.

Do be careful of false prophets. Everyone thinks they're a prophet and have a direct connection. Follow false prophets and you can end up OUT of the BOOK OF LIFE.

If God has something to impart to you, God will impart it and you'll know it when you sense it.

The question is will you follow it and how will you deal with it.

It happens to people all of the time.

Here is an example. I ask for guidance once in a meditation because I could not understand how we could be a part of God and seem to be seperate human beings at the same time.

This is what I heard.

I am the ocean, you are the raindrops. We are the same. You raindrops, because of your similar size and location, see yourselves as separate, as units, as individuals. This perception of your selves has been your only reality since you were born in the clouds. You have no other perspective of your selves. As you fall through your short lives here, you see the ocean far below. On a certain level you understand that it and you are one and the same. You envy its magnificence. The thought comes,” I am water too, am I not also part of this magnificence?” Then you realize that you are but an insignificant raindrop. You can only look at that distant ocean in awe. The ocean with its timeless knowledge sees you quite differently. It sees you for what you really are. Its most precious children, bravely returning home to share the experience that ocean as a whole could never have experienced. The ocean has nothing but love for you. Because it understands that it is you, and that you are it. It knows only truth. Until the moment you reunite you can only speculate. The ocean's love for you is unconditional. It holds no foolish thought of punishing you for not falling quite right. It only waits with great patience for your homecoming.

The tiny collisions you had with the other drops on the way down, at the time seemed so significant. Often you feared that if you mingled with them too long you might get to close and in the process even lose your identity. All this because you understood your true identity not! You are ocean, you always were ocean, you always will be ocean. How you currently perceive yourself raindrop, snow flake, puddle, stream, River, or lake matters not. This is all illusion, only perception. You are ocean, you are spirit. You and I are one; we are the All That Is!

I hope this helps.

Love and blessings Don

If you have a relationship with someone, the someone will talk back.

So have a relationship with God. Start by reading your bible, go to church, cell. Learn to worshp him.

God can speak to a person in any means. Mostly, from the bible, from fellow believers, when you seek Him. God is a Living God.

His words are always in accordance with the scripture, nothing is new and just for you. He is patient and loves to listen, very attentive and full of wisdom. He is at first a small voice but the closer you are to him the louder the voice. Read the bible and just talk, do not worry about what to say nothing is too stupid for him, he just loves the attention. he loves to hear from his children because you are the apple of his eye, every thing you do is precious to him, so what you have to say whether bad or good is a precious gem. Speak to him as you would your mother or father and he will speak to you, like a child growing aware of its mother and fathers voice in the womb so will you the more you talk to him.

Well, obviously, you don't hear a loud voice. It's moreless you are talking and "walking" with God. You are starting and developing a relationship with Him. If you have Him in your heart, you can feel his presence.....it's really deep and hard to understand. Also, God speaks to us through the Bible. One day, there might be a verse or message that God wants us to hear in church and we do....then it shapes our lives...he has spoken to us through his word because the message touched us to mold and change our ways.

God told George Bush to invade Iraq and get the weapons of mass destruction. I guess God was working on bad information too. Serial killers talk to God too. Sooner or later they all get religion. Wars and death are the inevitable result.

When a true devotee asks god a question the answer comes up in his conscience. Naturally he is delighted that god has answered his question .That's why he says God talked to me.
This has happened to me many times.
