The only thing equally mindless would be watching TV.
Try that.

If you are serious about quitting drinking, look in your phone book for AA. They will help you get started. Maybe an inpatient or outpatient program. There is alot more to life than drinking. My boyfriend is a recovering alcoholic and drug addict, but has recently relapsed. This is a very difficult disease to deal w/. But there are plenty of people who are on your side. I know what your going through! Routine is the best way to break this vicious cycle. Right now drinking is in your routine. Replace it w/ a meeting and other's who will totally understand. You'll find plenty of new things to do and life will look a whole lot different to you. You'll have a better outlook on life. That's a promise.

Lots of things. What's wrong? Becoming addicted to alcohol is not a good idea. If you're depressed, then alcohol is a terrible idea. You want help, ask a more specific question. There's plenty of help out there. I was depressed and addicted to alcohol and things got really bad... so trust me, I'm speaking from first hand experience.

Well what it all boils down to is that you dwell on the negative and then you have to have it in order to get yourself out of the pit from hell you dug yourself into. You think negative you will be negative,I think therefore I am. What you need to do to get better is force yourself to only dwell on any good you can find about the things that come to your mind and resist even considering anything negative, and you won't need to drink to "have a good time".Take Care and May God Bless You.

Try to get a job. Not a job that requires too much work but not one that is too easy when you feel good about yourself there is no reason to get drunk.

If you were unable to think of any options, then I suspect it is already too late to ask the question.
Need a brain cell inventory?
