When you get out of the shower:

-towel dry your hair

-brush /comb your hair REALLY well

-apply a good amount (quarter size) amount of gel or mousse (golf ball size) to your hair

-put curlers in (even sections, use a comb)

-spray entire head with 1-2 coats of hairspray

-If you have longer hair so the hair in the curlers is thicker, you might want to blast your hair with a hair drier while it is still in curlers. It helps it dry completely and keep the curls in place.

MAKE SURE HAIR IS 100% DRY BEFORE TAKING IT OUT OF CURLERS!!

good luck!

No - don't put gel in your hair before you set them in the curlers. Because the gel will start to flake when you separate your hair ringlets. Instead curl your hair first, make the curls look like how you want them and then put the gel in your hair.

I would highly recommend using hot rollers vs the curlers you leave in over night. You can have your hair already dry w hot rollers so your hair will be softer and shinier than if you had let it air dry w overnite rollers and you'll sleep more comfortably! Good luck!

Use mousse instead. Gel is too sticky & doesn't always dry well on wet hair.

Apply the mousse all over your hair, then as you separate your hair into sections to wrap the curler in, apply another small amount, about the size of a nickle, to the section of hair. Wrap hair around curler & secure in place, depending on the curlers being used.

When all the curlers are in place, spray your head with hairspray. In the morning, make sure your hair's completely dry before removing the curlers. If not, use the blow dryer to help speed up the drying.

Unwrap the curlers one by one & spray again with hairspray. Style your hair & spray one final time with hairspray.

I've done this with sponge curlers since they're the easiest to sleep in. My grandma had velcro curlers that she used but never slept in them. She'd set her hair in the curlers & wrap a black silk scarf over her head for the day.

It is a good idea to use gel or mousse before you set your hair. Just make sure you do not use too much, it may get sticky. While you are setting your hair, have a squirt bottle with water handy so that you can wet down the sections if they start to get dry. Many people will continue to put more gel or mousse if it starts to get dry, but all you need is to add water, this will keep the hair easy to control without more styling products. Try to keep your sections somewhat small, this will help ensure that your hair is dry in the morning. If you have any doubt about the dryness of your hair, give it a shot with a blow dryer, just be sure to let the section cool before removing the roller, this will help with the set. Good Luck

Yes, it absolutely will help - however be careful of what kind of gel you are using, you don't want super crunchy curls, I usually use a softer, longer lasting gel - one that is specifically made for curls. But I have found, maybe it's just my hair, that the curlers in your hair overnight don't really work all that well, most of mine fall out by the time I get up, and the ones that do stay in, the curls are all funky looking!

Yes gel would be great it helps the hair to build a memory and hold the shape you put into it. The most important thing is yes the hair needs to be wet so the hair dries in the shape you want. I am a stylist in Orlando we use gels, mousse all types of products. Make sure the product works for your hair type.

If you are talkin about putting gel in your hair before curling it with rollers this is a good idea because it would keep your hair in place better since it is wet

it'll make them more crunchy when you take out the curlers but yes, they will stay better. an alternative is just after you put them in curlers, spray your head down with a strongish hairspray, and then again when you take them out. this should create the same effect without as much heavy greasy crunchy gel-ish ness.

Yes, but I think mousse would be better, it's lighter, although they both are sticky. Just do them one curl at a time instead of putting the gel or mousse in all your hair before you start.
