i used to own a book store with a coffeee bar one evening sitting out side i noticed a person on the street corner that did not fit in. she did not fit the usual type of person who earned their living off of the streets. so i waited for her to come into my store. One evening she did , and when i got to see her face to face i knew that something was not right. she order a coffe and tried to pay it with the pennies she was counting out. i told her it was on the house if she would tell me why she was doing what she was doing., to make a long story short her husband of two years had walked out on her and the baby, she was in university and could get any assistance from the social services unless she quit school . she had tried to find a job and could not so was doing this to support herself and her child. well she drank her coffee i made a few phone calls. i got her a job that would help pay her bills., i got another friend to agree to provide her groceries in exchange for cleaning his home. that night she quit selling her self and when she graduated the following June, she asked me to attend her graduation, as her companion for the night. i did and was proud to do so. she is now married again, doing quite well for herself and has another child. what she was doing during that time is never discussed. nor should it be

Sure. I try to make service a regular part of my life. I do countless small things, open doors, help an elderly person with packages, give directions, etc. I have had opportunities so serve in larger capacities as well. I have hosted dinners for up to 200 homeless, I have been the first at a number of accidents and because I have First Responder Training I have been able to contribute to saving lives, I even found a dead body once and was helpful in solving the murder because I knew what to tell the sheriff department when they arrived.

All the time & whenever I can. One day this lady says " Come here, now you make this with that or this & than I do that?", she was trying to interpret english on directions of a box (if I remember correctly it was stove top) so I read it real quickly & told her how. No biggy.
Another time, at a restaurant I worked at, a guest had spilled sauce on her khaki pants, & I went & got her club soda & a cloth napkin so she could rub out the stain before it settled.
When I was a young girl, I was swimming at the lake we lived on. I was very familiar w/it & there was a "ditch" in the sand about 5-6 ft in the water. This young kid didn't know this & went over his head so quick, his mom didn't even notice him fall underneath the water. I was tall & close enough to just give him a push close to shore. Didn't make a big deal, just told him to stay away from there. & he just kept swimmin.
Once my man & I were camping, these guys were pulled over fiercely ripping thru their car, we stop & ask if they need help, they say they are short like $2-3 to camp. So we wrestled thru what we had (we were limited too)so they could camp too. They were so appreciative, even called us "angels", that was thanks enough. Helping others & not bragging about it is part of the glory of God. If you don't tell anyone, than u keep it between the 2 of u, it's that much more special. There are so many I couldn't list (or remember) all of them. It's my delight to help others. Truly, another reason why I like this website. God bless:o]

Constantly. I give rides to strangers within town, have added a bit to a layaway payment in a thrift store for a lady after she left, and many other things.
The best way to feel special is to help others feel that way.

Its incredible what number human beings will forget approximately approximately human beings while they like help the main! Ex: a woman replaced into stabbed in my place of birth at a convenience keep approximately 2 months in the past human beings truthfully stepped round her to pay for there gas and a few even shooting on there cellular telephones, its replaced into 3 long minuets till now all of us called 911, she later died on the scientific institution, yet now and lower back it relatively is stressful to help human beings, You never understand in the event that they are going to rob you or attempt to injury you. i think that's what this worldwide is coming too.

There was this guy standing on a corner of the entrance to a plaza type thing we have here in our town. He was holding a sign saying will work for food and cheap labor. He was dressed decent and clean so that showed me he was just facing hard times and was a worker by trade or survival like us all.
I stopped and asked him where he was from and he said here but he was part of the lay off that turned this town into a dead end town the past few years. He just couldn't find work and his unemployment wasnt making it for him . He asked me if I had some for him. I said no, but I told him that I wanted to give him a cash gift. He said no, he wasnt looking for charity. So I told him that it was a gift from the lord. He said no again. So I asked him has he ever heard of the story about the man on the roof durning a flood . And he was praying for God to save him...a log floated by..but no he was waiting on God...A boat came by but no...he was waiting on the Lord...A rescue helecopter came by ...but no he was waiting on the Lord. So he died , and when he got to Heaven he asked God why didnt he save him. The Lord said "I sent you a log, a boat and a helecopter. Why didnt you take my help?"
Well, any ways the guy got all teary eyed and said God bless youand held out his hand. I reached back into my purse to pull out the 20 I was originally going to give him and I couldn't find it. I dug and dug for about 3 minutes and still couldnt find it. Needless to say I was very embarrassed. All I could find was 2, 100 dollar bills so I got it and gave it to that man. I couldnt find a 10, 20, or 50. Just my hundreds.
Any way, the guy didnt know that I was going to give him a 20. He never even looked at the money, just put into his pocket and said God Bless you , and thank you. So later on about a hour later I got back into my purse and was looking for my money and there it was. Right in my bill fold in my purse. God is Good.

One time we were shopping in a department store and I saw a scene that just broke my heart. A little boy about 4 years old was crying loudly and had tears streaming down his face at the top of the escalator. His mom was at the bottom, obviously burned out with him and hollering in an angry fashion for him to just cut it out and ride down. He was so hysterical and terrified, I could tell that this was not going to happen, so I stopped and hollered, "Mom, it it OK if I carry this little one down to you?' She nodded, so I scooped the little guy up (which frightened him a little more at first) and rode down with him, telling him all the time, "See, we're going down to get mama." By the time we got down, they were both calmer and glad to see each other. I had always been terrified of escalators as a child, which is what made me feel so badly for him.

Yes. I like to. It's really easy to help people sometimes, especially at grocery stores. Sometimes you'll see an elderly woman trying to load groceries into her car, or lift a gallon of water or milk onto the conveyor belt, so I help them. I have never done it with an elderly man, because I wouldn't want to dent his ego. :o)

Yep, I usually help elderly people. For example, this year at my town's fair I helped an elderly lady off of a shuttle bus.
