On Saturday while my brothers were out a small baby kitten entered the house. We fed it took care of it.But it never feels comfortable. It never sleeps comfortably. At night my dad doesn't permit me to bring it in.So i bought it a shoe box and filled half of it with rags and after we tuck them in it sleeps there. It sleeps nearly at 5:25 AM .And if we come out as silently as possible at 8:15 AM it would still be awake. Is it normal?

Too bad Dad won't let you bring the kitty into the house. If it fits in a shoebox, it's pretty little and young.

Cats and kittens do sleep a lot, but they cat nap. They take short little snoozes and usually wake up at the least little sound. So the kitten probably was sleeping until it heard you coming and woke up. The idea from the other person is good, give the kitten something soft and warm with your smell on it and the kitten will feel more safe. Maybe you could find something a bit more sturdy and warm than a shoebox. I don't know how old you and your brothers are, but could you guys build something cat sized out of wood that dad might have laying around. It doesn't have to be fancy, just small and snug.

The best thing for it would be for you and your brothers to convince dad to bring the kitty indoors. It will be much safer and warmer in the house. If dad says no, maybe a trip to your local animal shelter is the best thing for it. Some family that would want an nice indoor kitten would probably love to have it.

Good luck and don't wait until the weather gets too cold, if you live in a state that has cold winters.

Of course the kitty wants to be inside with you. As soon as it hears you coming, its ready to greet you. Even asleep, cats can be very aware of things going on around them. Its dangerous to have a kitten outside too. Maybe if you take responsibility for keeping a litter pan clean, and keeping the kitten fed and watered, your dad will let you keep it in your room at night. Even a cage in your room at night is safer than outdoors. You might also point out to your dad that a cat in the house helps keep rodents out and helps catch rodents that do try to come in. Point out to your dad, if he doesn't know already, that cats naturally are housebroken to use a litter box (or if the kitten doesn't know what litter is, you might have to start with potting soil for plants and mix it with litter)

I am confused. What time do you put baby to bed? Does she/he sleep during the day? A kitten sleeps ALOT during the day and night. Is it cold where you put the kitten? Is there more than one kitten? You said after we tuck "them" in. How old is the kitten? Do you plan on getting it fixed/vaccinated? If not please don't allow it to stay outside to breed and get sick and die. Bring kitty to a no kill shelter or find a person who will have no issues what so ever getting the cat fixed/vaccinated ASAP! The kitty deserves no less than the best!

Make certain kitty is in a warm, draft free sleeping spot. Try putting in a t shirt with your scent on it for kitty to sleep with. Place a nice fuzzy toy in her(?) bed.

Sometimes they truly are to small to sleep alone. A small wind up alarm clock wrapped in a towel placed in the bed helps. It sounds like a heartbeat. They fell asleep to their mommys heartbeat for a long time. It may soothe kitty.

Why can't you bring the kitty in? What does dad have against kitty?

If I was in your position I would sneak kitty in at night! But I am a brat like that. Don't get in trouble! It will make your dad mad at the kitty. That is not right or fair.

It is fun to play with the kitten for now but please do what is right by the kitten. Get help in finding the absolute best home for him/her asap. It is getting cold.

Good luck with the kitty!

~Ciao~
