You help to relieve the stress of the bride as much as possible by helping out wherever you can. By choosing you as her bridesmaid, she is declaring that you are someone she feels she can rely on and considers you to be a great friend. In this time of extreme stress and meticulous planning, the best that a bridesmaid can do is to be by her side and ensure that everything goes well and try to take as much stress off of the bride as possible, because the last thing you'd want is a bride-zilla on your hands.

Traditionally, you wear a horrifyingly ugly dress, but you are a good sport about it and smile the whole time. You assist the maid of honor in putting together a bridal shower and/or bachelorette party. You are supportive and understanding through all of the wedding craziness, and you don't say a word of complaint when the bride decides the bridesmaids will all have gemstone-studded beehive hairdos or something equally outrageous. Basically, your job is to be nice and indulge every whim of the bride, in the hopes she will someday do the same for you. Oh, and be nice to the guy you're paired up with, even if he's totally gross and can't dance.

You generally help the bride with the little things she needs to get ready, most of the weight of the will or should fall on the maid of honor.

1) You offer your help to the bride, whether it is to help decorate, make favors, organize, etc. You're one of her closest friends!

2) You stand up beside her and help her enjoy this special day! That may mean helping her put the stress aside. :-)

I really dont think the bridesmaids have much of a role in the wedding but maybe help plan, and buy or rent her dress and accessories. And also to be a good friend of yours and to be there to help honor you and your future husband.
