I have a friend who teaches yoga. She tells me that one of the exercises she has her class do is to have them visually focus on something far away in the room for a few seconds, then focus on something up close. Do this exercise a couple of times; it will strengthen the ocular muscles. Some blurriness is due to the changing shape of the eyeball due to aging and nothing short of surgery or glasses will correct that.

You have not mentioned a number of things, so I can only tell you of my experience. I am in my seventieth year and can see my golf ball in flight to 250 metres and do not wear glasses except I carry a $2 pair of glasses for reading. I find that it saves eyestrain, however, any body function that you do not use, deteriorates. So if you do not need glasses, then don't use them, let your eyes adjust. Be sure not to sit in front of the television for too long without using them to adjust to moving objects away from the screen. The enemy of eyesight is sinus problems, keep them clear and your eyes will be clear. Of course a nutritious diet that your Optician recommended is good to help also.

Depends on what kind of deterioration your talking about. If it's macular degeneration, you might want to search "pycnogenol". Or, listen to your optician.... they're right. Vegetables have lots of healing power. Visit: http://www.drmcdougall.com and read some of the testimonials.
