Have you ever tried to lucid dream? For those who don't know, lucid dreaming is dreaming when you are knowing of your dream surroundings, and sometimes conciously control the dream.

I try all the time and succeed sometimes. I usually control some of the things in them, but I seem to just walk around checking out my dream world lately. I don't mean to, but my brain seems to be asleep.

If you're trying to lucid dream, check into different methods (M.I.L.D, W.I.L.D, W.B.T.B etc..). I know to some people they sounds like some new-age hocus-pocus crap, but they're just titles to ways that have worked for people. The 3 I mentioned are the only ones that has worked for me- also only ones I've tried. Basically, the MILD method is telling yourself over and over that you're dreaming or something like that as you go to sleep, and the WBTB is when you wake up little earlier then go back to bed closer to the time you'd be dreaming. WILD is my favorite way to have a lucid dream. I've only done it once- almost a couple of times but fell asleep. Look into it. It's where you can experience sleep paralysis and you can see your dream as it forms. I highly recommend it. Keep an open mind. I didn't fully believe what I read about in the methods, but I do know that some do work as they have for me.

There's plenty of tips/suggestions on the web. My personal favorite is ld4all.com . It looked a little childish when I first went there, but its got what other sites have and more.

And to Angry Gay Man, no drugs are needed and it is possible. Sweet dreams.

I've tried to get myself to have a lucid dream, but I've never had too much success. I had one once by accident, though. It was great. I was having a dream that I was talking with one of my friends. She said something that didn't make any sense, and that's how I realized that I was dreaming. Once I realized it, I decided to climb up the wall of a building like Spider-Man and jump off the top because I knew that I could fly. As I flew, I looked down over the entire city.

I heard somewhere that your own hands look different in your dreams than they do in real life, so you should try to look at your hands a lot during the day. That way, you might do the same thing in your dreams and realize that you're dreaming. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm going to give it a whirl and see if it works!

I do it all the time- after years of practice I am pretty good at getting into that state- I don't do this every night, but usually once a month or so just to keep in practice. Funny thing is, my sleep is not as restful when I do lucid dreaming.

The only time this occurs(with me)is shortly before I wake up when you are already coming out of the deep sleep where your conscious mind is sleeping and subconscious is running th brain. Because the conscious is beginning to get awake is why you are becoming aware of your dream and able somewhat(not entirely to interject what you 'd
like to occur BUT never does exactly and the reason is because the consciousness is not yet fully running the brain. It is only when you are conscious(awake) that you are in control and direct your thoughts-not totally for thoughts can still come unexpectedly but when awake we can go with it or make it go away.

Try jumping into the air a few times a day when nobody is around. Do this daily. After three to four weeks, if you've been consistent, you'll have a dream where you jump into the air. But in dreams, we don't just drop back to the ground, we float back down. Then you'll know you're in a dream.

Curiously, I have dreams in which I can consciously exert control, but generally don't realize it at the time. The one time I did realize it was sort of a bust -- I was busily writing at my desk and glanced over at the bed and saw my sleeping form lying there, and thought "Oh, wow, I'm finally having a lucid dream!"

And the thought got me so excited that I woke up.

I have on several occasions. However, usually when I realize I am dreaming, I wake up shortly after. On very few occasions, I have been able to maintain the dream for a little while to "look around".
I also remember most of my dreams upon waking.
