I just opened a scooter store. Store has good Frontage so I display bikes on the parking lot. I also advertise on the website and it has good response. I want to take it to next level. Does anyone know any other meothod of marketing ? I sell Mopeds, Scooters, Dirt Bikes, ATVS, Go Karts. Where should I advertise? I really dont have marketing budget, but I do spend about $2000/month on advertising right now on the internet and 75% of scooter sales come through internet advertising but it is not enough.

Consider the local celebrity / free PR angle.

For example, give (lend) one or more scooters (more is better) to the local Radio DJ's, TV anchors, newspaper reporters in your area. Hang out at the hippest restaurants and bars, and partner with them to offer a free scooter lease for a few months to their best patrons. Depending on your volume and margins, give away (lend?) a scooter to the valedictorian of the local high school. Etc...

Have you profiled the ideal scooter customer? Age/demographics - income, location, lifestyle, fashion preferences, as much as you can. Where do they hang out. What do they watch and read and listen to. Why did they buy a scooter? What did it replace? What else do they buy? Just by doing this, you'll identify potential partners and media.

Finally, recognize that a scooter is not an impulse purchase, so give your prospects free information (a good excuse to get their name and address so you can send your free scooter buyer's guide and 10 warnings for first time scooter buyers). Position yourself as the expert (you are!) and provide tons of useful info. Analyze the mental/emotional buying cycle, the doubts fears wishes and wants, and talk to those.

Good luck.

Try Cycle Magazine, Off Road Magazine, American Hunter Magazine. the want in the back of these magazines are looked at more than you think my husband looks at all these.
Your local cable company might do commercials at a reasonable rate and also try a promo on the radio in your local.
The 100th customer gets a so much off an atv or even a free one. but these customers must be paying customers, not just window shoppers. It is a tax write off. Best Wishes.

You wanna be able to reach those who are already interested in scooter culture...Try advertising in Scoot Magazine. Also, try sponsoring scooter ralleys which are getting more and more popular in the US and Canada. And one last easy and cost effective way is by starting your own scooter club !!! think about the possibilities: keeping in touch with your clients - knowing their needs fast enough to answer to them and keeping an important contact which they will surely relay to their friends when they'll be looking for a scoot !

Scooters have a step-through design, with the engine under the seat. Mopeds (or Motor-Pedal cycles) are like bicycles with an engine. Both generally have small engines, and are usually legal to ride without a motorcycle license.

If you are selling scooters, get in good with the local skinhead crowd.
