Chain smoke. Seriously, it works. And it gives me an excuse not to give up. But I am considerate and make sure that I don't sunbathe next to non-smokers...

dont sunbathe near flies- or food, or dont sunbathe! I have never had a problem with flies landing on me while sunbatheing, and I only go to places in the uk on the north sea which I have been told are the more polluted beaches in the uk.

Adding to the person advising vit b, try to not eat too much sugar or sweet things- dont know if flies have the same ability to smell it in your sweat as the mosquitoes but atleast you may be preventing one crawly-winged-insect from your skin!

Take plenty of vitamin B. Start taking it at least 3 weeks before you plan to go sunbathing. The flies hate the smell of it

Place a big pile of crap a few feet from where you are sunbathing and the flies will leave you alone,,coz for some reason or another flies seem to love eating crap,,maybe it's their coffee

Lavender. Put a few drops of lavender oil in water and lightly wash yourself down with it. As long as you don't mind the smell. Flies and insects hate it. Also for good for sunburn. It saved the day with my daughter many years ago. Stopped scarring.
