A friend of mine is letting her son be a woman. She says it was his idea. She will be applying makeup to him in addition to a wig and a dress. Is this odd? I think so, but I'd like to hear some input. Maybe I'm wrong. He does like to play with traditional "boy" things like cars and airplanes, and he likes sports, though he's not very good at playing them.

I don't think there is anything wrong with it. If you're worried that he is gay, well, maybe he is. There is nothing that can be done about it. If he's gay or not, dressing as a woman won't make him gay or stopping him from dressing as a woman won't prevent him from being gay.

My brother is gay. He played with traditional boy toys and he too play sports, and was good at them.

Let him be what he wants. Support him.

My cousin was about 11 or 12 and he was a woman for Halloween, he wore a huge bra and stuffed it and wore high heels and every thing, lipstick, panty hose the works. Heck he was a beautiful woman. And he is very much a young man now. He is 14 and plays center in football for his school. But I asked my 9 year old son if he wanted to be a woman this year and he looked at me like I had lost my mind. LOL, So I guess its actually up to the child/young man whom is at question. I don't see anything wrong with it, but some may. What if it was a girl wanting to be a man would that be questioned??!!

You are reading TOO much into this..Halloween is a fun time for kids ..to dress up and pretend to be someone or something else...what does playing with "traditional boy things" have to do with halloween and dressing up?! Not all boys are great at playing sports...doesn't mean they're gay...

Maybe if he's silly about it, I'd say that would be fine. My husband is very funny, so if he dressed up as a ballerina as a kid-I could see that- him just goofing around. And the kid only 11, so he might not be the best at sports yet... not everyone is. I wouldn't worry too much if he just thinks it'd be silly. I don't really know him, so I can't really judge.

Don't read anything into this. The boy may be doing it because he is curious about what he would look like as a woman, and Halloween is the perfect excuse. But even so, it should not be anything to be concerned about.

If he should start wearing women's clothes simply because he enjoys it, then his mother should start to worry.

Its just a costume. He may just want something that will look totally opposite of how he really looks. I think that a man dressing as a woman is a very common Halloween costume and has nothing to do with sexual orientation.

A guy should be free, at any age, under any circumstances, to dress however he wants. There are no moral or legal ramifications as regards crossdressing, especially when it comes to Halloween. And there is no causal relationship between wearing a dress and adopting a homosexual lifestyle.

If an 11 yr old girl, dresses up as a witch, does that make her a witch?

Look around halloween night, you will see a lot of people dressed up as something they are not, and you will probably see more than one kid dressed up as the opposite gender.

It's just Halloween. I think your friend is right to let her son dress up as a woman, if that's what he wants.

11 years old?? I would be a little concerned. My son will turn 11 in December and you could not pay him to dress up like a woman.
