i saw a question about something like this, but the answers never concluded factual or scriptual evidence that the tree was an apple tree.

It was not a tree of good and evil, but the Tree of Knowledge. The one piece of knowledge they lacked was the experience and knowledge of committing sin. Just like having sex for the first time, once done it cannot be changed back. It did not matter what the fruit was, as purpose was the lesson, not the fruit. Adam chose to ignore the lesson and traded his and all his descendants'' futures for a woman.

Eden remained in place until the time of the Great Flood, so man knew what they had lost.

We repeat the same action as Adam and Eve, every time we make a choice we know is wrong in the eyes of God and Christ, but decide to do it anyway, believing it is just a minor thing or that we will be forgiven so it doesn't matter. We may even believe that there is a balancing of the scales and that if we do enough good, the wrong won't count.

This is something that Moses may have thought, when he committed just the one sin. He learned differently when he was not allowed to enter the Promise Land. No, they didn't have the forgiveness of sins through Christ, but they did have it through the sacrifice of the lamb, which later Christ represented.

Traditionally, the fruit has been reported as an apple, but the bible itself does not specify the fruit. Also, it should be noted that the tree is the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, not the tree of good and evil.

There is no scripture that says. My father, a preacher, loved to quote a fictitious scripture called Hezekiah (make up any chapter and verse) Then He would launch into a spiel about how the tree was cursed when God cursed the ground and it shriveled up and became the tomato plant. This is why back a couple hundred years ago people still thought of tomatoes as poisonous. Dad always thought that they were poisonous.

This tree did not have a species or a genus name only titled Tree of Good and Evil and it bore a forbidden fruit, not an apple. I have no idea where the apple thing originated. I have always wondered if had a sweet, bitter-sweet, sour flavor.

THE BIBLE ONLY IDENTIFIES THE TREES AS BEING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE GARDEN

Gen.2:9 And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

Satan tricked Eve into disobeying God, as he had said, do not touch it, lest ye die.

Gen.3:1-5; [ Satan in disguise is called serpent. ] 3:1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
Gen.3:2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
Gen.3:3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
Gen.3:4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: [ John 8:44 ];
Gen.3:5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. [ Gen.3:22 Good, evil ];
[ Satan is calling the angels that do not die, gods to Eve ];
Luke 20:34-36 angels do not die did sin Jude 6; 1Pet.3:18-20; 2Pet.2:4 they wait ]:
Heb.9:27 It is appointed unto man once to die and after this the judgement.
1Cor,15:22 As in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
Acts 2:27-35 Christ Jesus was resurrected, but David still await his resurrection.
Rev.22:14 The tree of life is back for us.

I cannot remember where I Got this information but I understand it was not an apple but more like a pomagranite, not sure how they came up with that other than if it was the word used in the hebrew. I'll check with my pastor when I see him this evening, and will edit my answer if I get more info.

Mention of "the tree of knowledge of good and evil" has to be mentioned somewhere between chapter 2 and5 of Genesis

It was a metiphorical description of Satan. It was NOT some silly apple tree. Just like the "Tree of Life" is Christ, and not some tree planted in the ground.
