Any camera will be fine. Don't get the little cheap ones though that don't have good picture quality. Get at least a 3 megapixel. Cameras with 7 are pretty inexpensive these days.

I possess a couple of Nikon DSLR's and I'd purchase the Canon Powershot A630 or A640 for myself. These cameras have the higher one million/one million.eight" (five.two mm x 7.two mm) sensor that's just about double the sensor dimension you discover in lots of factor and shoot cameras and this interprets into higher photo nice. They enable entirely automated use or whole consumer manipulate and present a couple of phases in among. The simplest gigantic change among those cameras is that the A630 is eight MP and the A640 is 10 MP. If you are going to spend as much as $250, appear at a Canon Powershot A630. My brother has had his A630 for approximately a 12 months and it is a very exceptional digicam. You can get it at B&H Photo (to be had via Yahoo! Shopping) for $212. If you'll cross to $350, appear on the 10 MP Canon Powershot A640. This isn't a digicam that you'll stuff into your blouse pocket, however it is an satisfactory digicam. It sells for approximately $three hundred and you'll upload an excessively exceptional reminiscence card for only $50. For both digicam, purchase a one million or two GB Sandisk Ultra II or Extreme III card. You will NEED the elevated potential and write pace to entirely notice some great benefits of your digicam. The Ultra II could be satisfactory, but when you're particularly into video, you would opt for the quicker Extreme III. These playing cards price from approximately $25-forty five at B&H and a couple of different shops

It would help if you know what the pictures will be used for. A VGA camera (648 x 480) pixels? will make prints 4 x 6 inches O.K. For use on the web or with e-mail, QVGA format (324 x 240) pixels? is adequate. Many cameras under $60. will provide either format and you can also use them as a WebCam. One feature you may not have suspected: some cameras require you to use Playback mode or Photo Mode. Such cameras will not take a picture if the switch is in Playback Mode.
