...then the other side. I threw away 2 toasters already, thinking they were "bad". But it seems that ALL new toasters are doing this, Why ?????

I have to stop it halfway, spin my toast around, and then toast the other half.. Crazy

This is a GREAT question. I have the same problem and with different toasters. Man, thought I was crazy! I'm sorry I don't have the answer. But you made me feel better!

What you need to realize is the center of the toaster both sides are connected. If you want to toast your bread evenly then preheat the toaster before putting bread in it. If you insist on flipping the toast then I suggest you set level about half of what you normally do, becausby forcing the toaster to pop up could eventually make you have to hold it down to toast until it is down toasting. The toaster will not grip like it is suppose to

Funny, my (new) toaster does exactly the same

Poor design is my theory. If the bread was held in equal distance from two equally warm heating elements, this should not happen.

maybe thats how they work like bagels don't cook on side of crust and in ovens u have to flip ur meat or bread so other side gets cooked use a toaster oven or cook in oven
