I was 5'4 when I was 12, too, and I weighed 79 pounds (mmmhmmm.... I was underweight). I was anorexic and I didn't think I was doing anything wrong. I just thought I was "on a diet". Ask any of my friends, I was always "on a diet". Everytime I looked in the mirror, I could swear I gained a hundred pounds. I actually thought I had gained 3 pounds when ,in reality, I had lost 4 and a half. I would have given anything to have had diet pills.
The truth was, I became obsessed with weightloss at such a young age (age 8 was when I started dieting). In fifth grade, I was 5'3 and 108 pounds (I had a heartattack! I thought over 100 pounds was obese!). Five months later, I was an inch taller and 79 pounds. Its okay to try to lose weight to be healthier, but please do not do it for vanity issues. You could get carried away like I did...
Here's a plan (NO DIET PILLS ALLOWED, hun)
Breakfast: 1 fruit, 1 cup whole grain cereal, one serving of lowfat dairy
Snack: 1 fruit
Lunch: 1-2 servings of lean meat, 1 serving of whole grains, 2 servings of veggies
Snack: 1 fruit, 1 whole grain
Dinner: 2 servings of veggies, 1 serving whole grain, 2 servings of lean meat, 1 serving low fat dairy
Dessert: 1 serving low fat dairy, 1 fruit
Good luck! Don't get obsessed with your appearense. Do it for health-related reasons

1. Yeah, you are a little overweight. BUT, you're 12, and since you know this, it's going to be a LOT easier to nip this in the bud.
2. You're 12! You don't need to be thinking about diet pills!!!
Do not take diet pills. Mebbe a daily multivitamin, or even a B12 complex. It's this liquid stuff that you squirt under your toungue. It gives you energy.(it helps me, at least).
A few things that may help:
Think of one sugary snack that you eat on a daily basis.
Eat it only 1/4 as much as you normally do.
( example: I would love to eat tons of ice cream, every day of the week. BUT, instead, I'll eat ice cream only 3 days a week, and have an apple w/lowfat carmel dip the other four, or a banana. w/e)
Do the same with any "snack" you eat.
Walk. Walking, especially at our weight (you're taller than me, but I weigh more than you...lol. it sucks.) is better than almost any exercise! Get with your friends at lunch, and just start walking around the playground. Do something.
Never catch yourself "just sitting there".
Enjoy the foods you eat.
When you do treat yourself to ice cream, enjoy it thouroghly. Take little bitty bites, and try to think of every little way to describe it as you do. Do the same with all your foods.
Put your fork/spoon/knife down between bites, and drink after a few bites.
You'll look like a lady, enjoy your food, AND you'll digest your food better, which will help you get all the good-for-you stuff out of it.
Don't focus on loosing weight. If you do, you're doomed, just like 99.99% of the other women out there.
Focus on being healthy!
In the meantime, start liking the you that is here now.
You're not gonna be supermodel thin in a few months, so don't be upset if you don't lose right away.
You are the size you are, make it pretty.
If you can afford it, get a few new shirts, and don't be embarassed by having to buy a bigger size.
Trust me, nothing looks worse than a size 16 trying, in vain, to fit into a size 12.
Try putting on a little lip gloss, maybe even a tiny bit of blush or eyeshadow!
Play dress up, and experiment. (And if you think dress up is for "little kids" HA! every woman does it! lol)
For any of this to work, you've got to feel good about yourself. If not, you've already ruined your work, before you started!
Good luck, and DON'T GIVE UP!
:-D

Pills do one (or more) of the following things: Make you hyper (hoodia, etc), make you poop more, or make you not hungry (slim fast, etc). They do help take pounds off.
HOWEVER...
The are not without side effects, and people have died from using them (usually took too many).
AND
When you stop taking the pills, the weight comes back with a vengence, and usually you end up weighing more.
THE BEST WAY lose 1-2 pounds a week. In your case, that means you'll have it gone by Valentine's day. Better yet, you'll have learned how to eat healthy, and will be in good shape from the exercise. You need to either cut 500 calories a day from your diet (one order of fries), or increase your exercise by 500 calories (one KILLER hour on the treadmill), or a combination of both.

You do to a certain extent have the body type you were born with, you are not likely to ever be skinny. However you can eat healthy, exercise and live a healthy emotional lifestyle. As others have said avoid pills and fad diets and accept yourself as you are. I think you can be heavy, healthy and happy. But if you only want to be skinny and you move from fad diet to fad diet you will never likely be happy. Remember you are a whole person consisting of not just a body, but a soul and mind.

Diets are okay and everything, but they can decrease your metabolism, causing your body to conserve fat. What you really need is some long, slow aerobic exercise. Go for at least 12-15 minutes or more per day, and don't stop doing this once you get rid of the weight you want to get rid of.

just make sure you do the right dieting and the right exercise.
this invlves doing the right amount of exercise and the correct type of exercise. and in terms of dieting, i woudl recommend going to see a nutritionist.
the problem is that you think you are doing it proper and the pounds are not coming off. the therapist can put things in simple terms for you and come up with a program.
on the exercise side if you go to a gym there are phsyicial trainers that can come up with a exercise routine for you
combine those two, andy ou cant fail
good luck

Make sure you make time for breakfast. It should be the biggest meal of the day. Snack three times a day on things like carrots, apples, celery. Drink water. If you feel hungry and you've already had your meal or your snack water will make you feel full. If you don't like water then try other non-caffeine, non-carbonated beverages.
You could also do 2 minutes of sit ups and push ups a day. That's 4 minutes of excercise a day that'll show you plenty of results.
If you like to walk or run...a 1/2 hour a day...even better

What kind of diet are you on? Eating less doesn't mean you are eating right. You need to be selective of the kind of food you take. Don't skip any meals and make sure your breakfast is the heaviest meal of the day. Eat less for dinner and cut back on deep fried and fast food. Drink lots of water before each meal because that will help you feel full even before you begin on your meals. Drink a glass of grapefruit juice everyday because grapefruits have been scientifically proven to help increase your metabolic rate.
I'd advise you to avoid taking any pills. It may cause damage to your liver if you take them indiscriminately.

Dont take pills. You can do it on your own. Go for a run every morning, dont ever skip a day. Eat healthy foods, and dont ever once cheat. Keep running until you can run 5 miles at once. Run twice a day if you have to. Just keep with it. Run up and down stairs. dont eat meat and candy. dont eat before going to sleep. Eat more fuit and drink lots and lots and lots of water. Keep a water boddle near you at all times. No soda. keep up with it. eat half as much as you usaully do. Eat breakfast. Dont take pills. Remember, you can do it if you want to. Be strong and live long.
