Visit your local teacher supply store....there is a CD with songs to memorize states and caps..

Make an alpha list of the states & their capitals.

Learn the states & capitals of all the states that border yours & then branch out from there.

Learn all the states & capitals that are in your region & then move on to the next region.

At the same time you're learning from your lists, you should be also visually placing the states on the map.

Purchase a state map puzzle. It helps.

there is a song i learned with all the states in alpha. order...
i cant sing it to you[ovbiously] but as soon as i learned it 5yrs ago, i still know it today =]
