With the rapid advances in technology the likelihood of humans living forever seems to draw closer to reality. How could religion play its part in our after death if we don’t die? You can not deny this fact and I doubt “god” would punish us for achieving immortality when he allowed Hitler, Mao, Stalin and many more to commit mass murders.

How would religion survive this future event?

Why wouldn't a person want to live forever? Isn't going to "heaven" a type of immortality?

There is soo much more that we can learn if we live forever.

I Peter 1:25 But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.

Hiya,

Well as we can planinly see from todays political standpoint humanity is becoming completely useless at everything its doing and we are coming to a state of geographical meltdown. As it states in Revelation Nations will rise against Nation, we can see this happening already, but Armageddon is set to occur beginning March 23rd 2008, so this system is on a downward spiral but there is an answer and a solution and this system will be brought back into the right condition, unfortunately mankind has totally screwed up this current system and it will take time to replenish itself, but God does say everything will be fine and Im sure it will be, but humanity has to grow up in the meantime.

excuseme,i think you are confuse, reality?is technology stopping the earthquakes, hurricanes, floods, tornadoes etc...(it means the nature) that is the frustration of the scientists, now instead of to get a longer life in the human kind, they are looking for to live in another planets because they know the deterioration of our planets through the big inventions that themselves made, longer life? and GOD is not religion,he does not need to show you nothing he is the creator and you are the creation, the religions are groups that teach or follow the real GOD teachings accord to the way that they interpret the sacred scriptures, the most of the times the religion had corrupted or changed the true.but i invite you to read and study yourself the scriptures and try to live accord it ,so you will get the amswer to your question.

It would srew religion right up. Then nobody would need to go to the afterlife. The idiots that then believe in the after life would soon lose there faith as they would be the first to do it. After all you never hear of the religious leaders topping themselfs for their cause. So religion would cease to exsist. The sooner the better.

If you spend enough time to know science... It really tells you the opposite, the nature will not stand forever. I doubt (sorry) it that you really understand what you are saying... (dont means to offend you, If I do, forgive me). That is the most elementary understanding in science... We cannot fight against the Law of Thermodynamic II.

Buddhism is a life-based religion, not a death-based religion, so it would not effect us. I wouldn't want to be immortal, it seems like more of a curse than a gift...

I doubt very much that we will one day live forever thanks to science. As clever as those guys are they are not god they do not control life.

If we were close as you seem to think we are, we would have a cure for aids, cancer and the evil gene in people who decide to start wars in other countries in the name of religion.

We will never live forever. It is never ever going to happen therefore your question cancels it sefl out.

Personally I do not want to live forever.

No one can live forever, a long time maybe, but not forever (its scientifically impossible as eternal life would violate 2nd law of thermodynamics). Its just putting off the inevitable, so I don't think it would disappear completely.

First off, everyone will die, and second of all, every religion is not 100 correct except Islam which is the truth. And every soul will have ts day.. Lets say someone couldnt die because science cured all diseases, if i go jump off a cliff i still think id be dead. Point is, in Islam even our prophet peace be upon him says, all people will die sooner or later, but according to what you did is your faith for afterlife. Salaam alaikum.

This remind me of a story they told me: The entire assembly of scientific worldly community, decide one day to send one of theIr representative to God to tell Him that we do not need you anymore. So they did.

When in the presence of God they said to Him: "God we do not need you anymore, we can do anything you can do. So God told them as lovingly as He possibly can:

I'll tell you what, if you can match something I'm creating you are on your own. The scientists agreed.

Now God started to make a man: He took a hands of dirt...... and the scientists start doing the same. At this God said to them:

Whoooo! Whoooo! Stop that!!!! GET YOUR OWN DIRT.
