maximum cats purr yet some are infrequently audible. If yours would not purr in any respect do not hassle approximately it. It has not something to do with how content cloth he's. that's only him. I even have some cats that sound like a device while they purr and a few that i will't pay attention yet for a 2nd when I placed my ear as much as them.

I have 3 cats and 1 of them you cant hear purr but if you put your finger at the base of his throat you can "feel" the rumble. So maybe some cats just have an almost silent purr. Also this cat is very heavy (about 20 lbs.) so maybe weight has something to do with it. Is your cat fat?

He like what ever you are doing for example if you are petting him then he start to purr he likes that spot being petted.
Also maybe he purrs but you never hear him.
And some cats don't purr really as much as other cats.

This is not a joke.
My vet says that my son's cat is mentally challenged, she does not meow. We did "purr therapy" with her, where we would hold her and purr to her for at least an hour a day. After six or seven months, she has finally picked up the idea and purrs ..but, only for my son. She cant meow tho, but, she does open her mouth to do so,,,just no sound comes out.
Try holding the kitty, and purring to him. I hope it works for you.
Good Luck

Some cats just don't! I once had a female cat who didn't purr, but made a low rumbling that you'd only notice by picking her up under the tummy. She was perfectly happy though....she'd still give you the "squint" and kitty smile & paw at you.

He might purr softly so you don't hear it. Or there's something physically wrong with his throat so that he can't purr. As long as he's healthy and happy it shouldn't matter if he purrs or not.
In general you can tell if a cat is happy to see you when he holds his tail up straight.

female cats show more affection than some males depending on how much love-ins you give him!Males are harder to show their affections since they are always on the go looking for trouble. All cats are different some show more affection than others. It all depends on the cat especially if he has been nurtured. He has to do something to show his affection to you unless he is the type of cat that just don't do much at all but I'm sure he's fine.

He's im-purr-fect.
I have a male cat, and he purrs a lot. So it's not the male thing.
Cats purr when they're scared or sick, as well as when they're happy.
Could be your cat is defective.
