Tavern on the Green is nice, but can feel a bit crowded. Try the Boathouse, also in Central Park. It oozes romance, from the view of the pond, to the cozy seating, to the food.

A guy bringing a girl there would show quite an appealing soft side, though just now a girl asked for a 'date in NYC' recommendation and I suggested somewhere else for her to bring her guy because it's the kind of place that's good for guys to woo girls, but probably wouldn't much impress a guy if he was brought there.

If you're thinking about bringing her for something unusual, try Thai food: http://www.foodvirgin.com/columns/Thai.htm
Hope the date goes well for you wherever you decide to go!

Very romantic in the Green Room at Central Park's Tavern on the Green. You wont be sorry. It is exquisite and beautiful that time of year, you can even take a horse ride through the park.
